I have used smooth-on and found it easy to use, but after Joe Z. sent me a few of his cars made with Aluminite (i think thats spelled correct) I am definatley switching. his cars had a much stronger feel to them and a much better finish.

Alumilite is the stuff that has been working great for me, guys.
The SUPER casting kits would be the way to go. for 70.00 you will have a lb of synth-clay (use over and over) 1 lb of quick-set (4 hr) RTV alumilites casting plastic (28oz) and all of the lil plastic cups & sticks. (I have started using 10cc medi syringes for acurate measuring of a& B resin parts) The RTV should yield you 3 single-part body molds and you will have enough resin to cast 100 or so bodies.

Both the resin & RTV are available seperately. They offer 2 RTV compounds. One is the quick-set(27.00 a lb) that I already mentioned and the other is the regular 12 hr stuff.(16.00 a lb) The quick-set is more firm (think super-ball) while the regular is much softer. Both will allow you to create super detailed castings. (Roger was right about fingetprints and tampos) RTV of any* brand it seems, will pick up ANY detail.
Resin (28oz ) sells for about 27.00 .

I have not tried other offerings yet (smooth-on ect) but am very pleased with the value I have recieved with Alumilite products. The dyes that are available are very nice and easy to use also. I have achieved some translucent 2 color fades with it.

If you have more Qs, feel free to ask. :)
You Can Do IT!!! Just jump on in! Casting is great fun!
