View Full Version : IROAR R/C Club Spring Fling Oval Race.
Danny B 02-25-2005, 01:59 AM It's about that time of the year again.
Last year's race was a huge success with 101 entries, that was bigger than the ROAR and Arcor carpet nationals.
This year we will be adding a 4300 brushless class to the featured line-up. It has been a very quick and competitive. And the 19t 0 degree class will be the racing of the weekend as it has been all year, There have been very few mulitiple a-main winners this year and the qualifying should come down to seconds not laps... and i imagine another fast 4-cell Pro Mod field again this year.
Featured Classes:
Sportsman: Any car, any stock motor(must run trinity spec brushes), any battery, no wing, back of body must remain in.
4-cell Stock: Binary's legal
4-cell 19t 0 Degree: ARCOR motor rules, must run stand up brushes, No 4-mag cans(they are slower anyway)
4-cell Novak 4300 Brushless: 4300 motor max, novak systems only
4-cell Open Mod: ROAR rules apply.
1/12 4-cell 19t: ROAR motor rules apply.
We will also run any class with 4 or more cars, 1/10 19t open etc.
We'll look to secure some door prizes. And word on the street is some of the racers may scope out some corn fed "goodness" on Sat. night.
The Dates of the race are March 19-20, Doors Open at 7am both days and three qualifiers on Saturday, 1 qual. on Sunday and Single A-mains.
Please bring a table and extension cord, we have plenty of chairs. We do have some tables available but they go quick so if you want a table i would need to know ahead of time. I will also ask the locals to bring their own tables if at all possible.
Hope to see a bunch of guys for our race!
Danny B.
rcavenger 02-25-2005, 10:21 AM Looks like a good time, Danny. BTW, I am going to try out brushless for the first time. Anyone w/ a basic rollout to start w/?
Bob Wright 02-25-2005, 11:03 AM Danny please save me a table my Focus doesn't have room to bring one along.
Scott I will be running BL also.I've been rolling out at 2.70-80 at Trackside and 2.50 at the Triclone carpet track which is 135' runline. The freer your car is the higher you can roll, just keep going up on roll out until the speedo overheats, not really but you can gear them really high if your car is effecient.
haysreeling 02-25-2005, 01:37 PM LMAO Corn fed godesses.........
Hays JR
bluelineracer 02-25-2005, 03:08 PM the indiana crew is fired up and ready....for what i like to call "the birthplace nationals" so....no big trophies for the little cars this year, huh? shame on you randy harms
dk
Danny B 02-25-2005, 06:39 PM Hays Jr, I was going for "goodness" They are very wholesome girls...
Scott, Not sure what they are rolling the brushless out at, but they have been about a .1 slower than the 0 degree cars. I think the track record for them is 71 4:01, Cory V was on a 73 lap pace in the main but got into it with a lap car. Mike C says around 2.45ish.
For those that don't know Bluelineracer is a Vinton native...
Bob W., will do.
Danny B 02-25-2005, 06:57 PM We added 1/12 19t to the list of featured classes.
One thing i left out is GP3300's max. the new IB batteries will not be allowed in any class. They aren't approved yet and we are going to keep consistent with our race with what will be legal at our Regions carpet regional next weekend.
Danny B 02-25-2005, 07:26 PM A flyer for the race is now available at www.iroaronline.org Feel free to take one to your LHS or track!

Mr.Wolfman 03-01-2005, 08:30 PM Yeah Crazy, I can build a good legal one. You have to go elsewhere for more than that.....
Great racing with ya again.
Mark Recio 03-02-2005, 09:32 AM Danny,
12th scale is a 4 minute race then if we're going by roar rules, right?
Thanks,
Mark
Danny B 03-02-2005, 11:20 AM Mark, it'll be 5 min. that's the way we've always ran 1/12 round here. The Roar rules thing was more toward the motors, we won't check roof height(in any class) but you will have to run ROAR legal weight.
New ones added.

erock1331 03-02-2005, 02:37 PM you are probably right Sonny
Man, I missed all the fun I think....all these people talking about legality and then 2 edited posts in a row..........darn.
Mark Recio 03-02-2005, 04:31 PM huh...wunner what they said...
BrentP 03-02-2005, 05:13 PM Man, I missed all the fun I think....all these people talking about legality and then 2 edited posts in a row..........darn.It didn't have anything to do with legality. I think it was just a little concern about all the races going on lately. No big deal. There are allot of races going on in the Mid-West right now & I wish I could make all of them but I have other obligations & will probably only make 2 or 3 of them. This is one that I hope to make!!

Danny B 03-02-2005, 06:04 PM We've ran our spring trophy race on the third weekend of march since i started running with the club in 1998. 4 years ago we split it up running a road only race in the fall and oval only in the spring. The oval race has exploded into a mark on your calanders event now! I'm sorry there are only so many weekends in a year...
haysreeling 03-02-2005, 06:41 PM Aside from snowbirds and the 2003 roar carpet nats, last years race was probably the biggest race as far as attendance I've been to in the last few years....... what was it like 105 entries??? Both me and my Dad will most likely be there, maybe a few others from Wisconsin too.
Hays JR

JasonAB25 03-04-2005, 01:11 PM Here is some local motel/hotel info if anyone is interested:
There is a Super 8 in Urbana, IA which is approximately 12 miles from Vinton. Phone number for them is: 1-319-443-8888.
There is also a small motel in Vinton called the Modern Motel: Contact them at 1-319-472-2391
There are also quite a few in the Cedar Rapids area as that will be about 30 miles or so from the track.
Looks like it's shaping up to be quite a large turnout, can't wait. What is everyone planning on running anyway? Later.
Jason
Danny-The-Dude 03-04-2005, 02:05 PM R/C cars for me...............he he he
