I purchased 1 Johnny Lightning Zinger 71 GTO (opened it) and noticed that the engine is loose.

My question is - How are the engines attached? And would the easiest fix be model glue?

Thanks.

Also, I'm new to customizing JLs and Hot Wheels. Is there a good online guide anywhere with tips? I want to customize 69 Dodge Daytonas and Chargers, to add to my collection with custom paint styles.

I accidentally dropped one of mine and the rear axle assembly came off and the engine was knocked loose. I used Testor's metal glue to reattatch them. It worked great and didn't leave any discoloration. The engine is held in by plastic lugs which are mushroomed by melting the ends that are protruding thru the holes of the main body piece. Sometimes it doesn't work well though. I have several cars with loose engines.

Seems to be a common problem with the GTO Zingers...like flyin' said glue will fix it right up. Hardest part is pulling it all the way out so you can get the glue on the lugs.

Hey vanalan78!

Since the mill is loose on that GTO, and will need to be glued in anyways...why not improve PERFORMANCE at the same time by replace it with a CHEVY or MOPAR hemi mill instead! :p

The GTO is still a good looking muscle car

Like I said/hinted above. The cars I collect most are 69 Dodge Chargers and the 69 Daytona/70 Superbird ;)

Thanks for the info everyone!

GTOs definitely have there place, and the one you have does actually look good. There aren't actually any ZINGERS, that I can think of, that I don't like.
