According to the Showtime web board, and the staff at the shop (I called) the paved oval is being destroyed and they are putting a new off road track there. Voice your support with the shop or the Showtime message board (or both) and see if we can make a difference. They seem to be convinced that "nobody races paved oval anymore". www.showtimespeedway.com

if no one shows to race, which i assume is what is happening, they have to go where the money is...

our track has the same thing as well. www.triclone.net (http://www.triclone.net) we dont get much support.. but lucky for us the guy who owns it lets us use it at no charge as a club... at the end fo the year we of course pay what we can... maintinance and such is our responsibility,, we had the roar paved nats this past year and still no people... but we have fun with the 20 or so that do show up...

i guess we are lucky in the aspect of he closed the hobbby shop.. and has no interest anymore,.. so it either sits or we use it..

John are talking about the banked track? I think it is just Don messing with Racers Haven. For on the cost to demo it would be more then he can recoupe. I saw that he was having trouble with the offroad racers and he was going to run the races. Stuff like that is why I'm going up north and running SWT races. Tired of the BS I'm sorry to say.

Even after Dons post on Showtime's forum, I still don't think he'll close the oval. He always leaves an out. For one the offroad turn out sucks too. So there isn't anythig to gain.

I have to admit, after the turnout for the SWTour series last year, I contemplated not doing it again this year.

Instead, I spent a TON of money, got a schedule out EARLY, dropped the VEGAS race to keep things a little closer to home, bought new computer, new AMBrc system and put on a HAPPY FACE.

I'm VERY excited about the '05 TOUR, which is our 5th Anniversary of this travelling series.

I've seen and met several NEW faces who are also excited about joining in this series not to mention a few Old retired faces that are making a comback this year.

I have NO idea what kind of turnout we'll have this weekend at our SEASON OPENER on the Encino Velodrome, especially since the CUP/TRUCK/BUSCH cars are at the California Speedway this weekend...BUT for those who have NOT had a chance to race all winter...we're GEARING UP for an exciting SEASON.

Joe,

Best Of Luck This Year And I'm Sure Your Turnouts Will Be Stronger Than Last Year. With The Rain Being Constant The Past Weeks....
Everyone Wants To Go Play With Their Toy. They Have Been Wrenching For Three Months On These New Velo-front Ends And Are Aching For That Need For Speed. Seems Mother Nature Will Be On Your Side, Just Drain Lake Encino In Turn Two. Lol

I Will Be Watching Your Posts Afterward To See How You Fare'd.

Sincerely,

Mac
