Hank,

I've recently become a Hobby Talk Sponsor and have been trying to upload the URL for my custom avatar - http://members.aol.com/Griffyards/stsm_01.jpg However, every time I try to upload the URL, I get the same error message:

Error - cannot find an image at the specified URL. Please make sure that you have entered a valid URL.

Any help, please? Is there something I'm doing wrong from my end?

Yeah... the instructions are not very clear for that function and truthfully, it normally doesn't work well. Try putting in the URL to the page the Avatar is on. (example http://members.aol.com/Griffyards/avatar.html)

If the avatar isn't on a web page then create one that only has the avatar displayed on it and then use the URL to that page. Best bet is to just upload the avatar from the hard drive of your computer.

Also, I grabbed the Avatar from your link, reduced the file size slightly so it would fit our specs and will attach it here. You can just download it from here if you want and then upload it.

Thank you, Hank! That did the trick! I appreciate it and will keep that HTML trick in mind for when/if I ever do another Avatar.

Thanks again!
