Just was wondering if anyone has been running this new cell in modified? What are your thoughts and opinions on them?

Thanks

I just ran them for the first time this weekend but in 6 cell stock. I ran the same lap times from start to finish. The most my times fell off were only a tenth. Speed wise they seemed the same as GPs. The biggest thing I noticed is that they were fast right from the first cycle in the car. GPs take 2 or 3 runs before they come in. These, I put them together, charged them, put them in the car and was just as fast as my broke in GPs. If this is their flat period then they will be faster than GPs.

I haven't ran them in modified or 19t yet but I did try to "kill" a pack last night in 4 cell stock!

I practiced with it once and then left it in the car for all 3 qualifiers and the main. The pack kept getting better! It ran well the first time but it came to life on the rest of the runs.

It charged and peaked at "almost" the same numbers each time. Usually when I run a practice pack a few times it will start to charge and peak at higher numbers because of the over use, the IB's actually went "down" just a little.

If there had of been more time between rounds, I would have discharged them but in this case, they would not have had time to cool properly so I just re-charged them with what was left in the pack.

IF they hold up under this type of abuse, then ONE or maybe TWO packs are all you are going to need to race! Of course we won't know that until they are allowed in racing and they are raced more often by more people. But I was impressed last night.

I have been using the IB cells in 6 cell stock and mod. They run strong in stock and no problem with run time in mod. I've been putting them into a real time 2 just before charging. The IB cells seem to be stuck at a 3700-3750 mah charge, I have 3300s that take 3750-3900 mah charge.

the lower mah peak, has to do with lower internal resistance from what i understand... the quicker the pack peaks the better...

This is true. I have some GP3300's that peak at 3900-4000mah and they suck, HIGH Internals, mah at peak don't mean much......

Has anyone tried dead-shorting the IB cells? I discharge mine down to .9 per cell and let them sit. Right before I charge them up I put them in a tray for about 30 mins and then charge them. I've heard that keeping them dead shorted hurts them. Like a couple of hours or more.

The word I am getting is do NOT dead short them.

I believe that Danny from SMC has siad not to deadshort htese cells with internals of 1.9 no need to deadshort them ......SRM
