It won't be released until next weekend Os. I do plan on going to see it since it is a Wes Craven/Kevin Williamson flick. Plus it has Christina Ricci.

After I posted the question I tried to find out about the movie. Fangoria had an article with Wes Craven but I did'nt have it. I did find web stuff about it though, dating back to 2002.

They made a number of cast changes and reshoots. At one time Ricci was'nt in it. Scott Baio and Corey Haim were but they left and on and on with whatever changes.

Apparently this movie,in it's final form, has been on the shelf since last year awaiting a Halloween time release date but it's hitting theaters now for some reason. IMDB (?) had a major pan review and it's the only review so far that I found.

I predict the movie will flop. I predict many more werewolf movies will flop. In fact many more sci fi and horror shows on TV and in theaters will be hard pressed to be HUGE hits.

I'm saying only for the audience who's seen it all before. Little new under the Sun. Sure, for younger audiences maybe future horror and sci fi flicks will do OK but let's face it, at Best Buy, etc I see Mothers offering their LITTLE kids such fare as slasher and Chucky movies.

A lot of kids are hardened veterans of weird by the time they're 10! So Hollywood won't be able to offer much fresh and new to anyone in fantasy films. It's all been done TO DEATH!

I see 40's Charlie McCarthy movies that have great stuff not seen everyday but even these would flop with today's audiences. Hell, have Jeff Dunham do it or even The Muppets....been there, done that or it's just not in vogue anymore.

A movie does a lot better slapping Disney's or Lucasfilms name on it but take it away and I wonder if even a Muppet movie would be a huge hit? As far a sci fi and horror goes anymore, give me a reason to bother. CGI is old hat now too.

I had heard it was heavily re-edited, shelved for a year, and will not be available to reviewers before it opens, which is kinda the hat trick when studios know they got a loser.

Siskel and Roeper were going to review it on this weekend's show. Roger said the studio wouldn't screen the film for critics, so they couldn't review it. He says this usually means even the studio thinks the film sucks.

BTVS and ANGEL were amoung the few exceptions to standard, tired fare. Buffy had the usual monsters BUT the writers did really different things with them AND the heroes. Angel and Firefly were like that too.

Bab 5 was different enough to keep watching it and SEARCHING for it when it was'nt easy to find. I'll watch the same 'ol, same 'ol if it's old stuff but I don't want NEW movie and shows like that.

Dammit, bring back Ted Mack's Amatuer Hour. Old stuff but it'd be new and different! Have a new version with super hero, etc costume contests added.

Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. It had plenty of the ol' jump out and scare you moments. It was light-hearted predictable fare but fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously and neither should you take it too seriously.

The R-rated version was released in Canada. I dunno, with all the bad signs, I'll juts wait for dvd. Before I see it, I'd like a better understanding of just who's version the final product is.

Ricci made around 4 movies never released to theaters or on video. I wish I could see them.

I'll admit the idea of Ricci as a wolf girl attracts me.

So I guess one might say the film was 'cursed' from the begining? :p

CURSED will probably do way better than DUMMY with Adrien Brody did. A rental store I go to has only seen the dvd rent THREE times since it came out.

The extras are fun but they're probably to inside for the general public.

This is something intersting that was pointed out elsewhere:

"Dimension didn't have critics screenings for Cursed (review, #2), as we all know. BUT, they did do a TON of screenings for general audiences approximately 2-4 weeks before the films release. This was so that the fan reviews would get online, and take place of the missing critics reviews on opening weekend. There were numerous screenings in LA thru the month of January and early February. Here's the kicker... They screened the R-rated cut during all of these screenings, even though they had the intention of releasing the PG-13 cut the entire time.

The R-rated cut that they screened had completed music, sound, FX, and even complete beginning and ending title sequences. Even the reviewers at Fangoria comment that they were screened the R-rated cut, just weeks before the films release. This way fans can read online reviews saying how gory it is, and how cool it is to see Shannon Elizabeth's
torso crawling along the ground....then the young teens who normally can't get into R-rated movies will jump at the chance to see it when they realize it's only PG-13."

I can't testify to the veracity of this, but given Dimension's treatment of the film thus far it sounds plausible. The page in question is here (warning: popups): http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=3451&Template=newsfull
