View Full Version : New Crc Dura Shock????
burbs 02-19-2005, 12:55 AM Has anyone tried these yet??? They seem to basically be a silva type design.. exept they use a delrin piece to hold the shock together, instead of aluminum..

I havent tried them but with the use of stock associated rebuild kits as opposed to specialty items they may be a better choice for racers that dont have a performance oriented hobby shop nearby. Our local shop doesnt carry silva products so we have to use other means to get our rebuild kits. The shop does carrry AE products though. I bet they(CRC)will sell a ton of them.
Fireball929 02-19-2005, 10:16 AM I wonder if they will leak like the silvas? I have to run a piece of teflon tape around my cap.
Bob Wright 02-20-2005, 08:54 AM I just ordered a pair hopefully they will be here for a test drive by next weekend.

Bob,let us know how the shock works out for you, this may be just the ticket. My silva's leak no matter how their built, low pressure, high pressure it doesn't matter.I wonder if the cap will fit the silva shock?

I've seen these shocks and the end cap is made of delrin so as you tighten it it does seal unlike the metal to metal of the silva.
rc lee 02-20-2005, 03:09 PM I think they would be easlier to rebuild than the stock shocks, but my only corncern is the end cap stripping out with continued rebuilding. If the delrin ends are going to be sold without buying the the entire shock they maybe worth the purchase price.
burbs 02-20-2005, 03:27 PM delrin is actually last very long compared to other plastics.. it is avery rigid as well...
i think these will be great shocks
Can you purchase just the end caps for use with the silva shock? Do they just come on red?
burbs 02-21-2005, 11:24 PM blue, red and silver..
The delrin upper A arms look pretty trick also,as does the castor blocks.
burbs 02-22-2005, 07:26 PM the caster blocks are killer.. i just wish they were more then one set of holes..and were adjustable
rcavenger 02-22-2005, 08:04 PM i ordered the shocks and A-arms...will report back after i get them :)
BigMike84 02-28-2005, 01:11 PM whats the verdict on these shocks? i wanna get some and would like to know if the are good and if the leak or not. thanks
We're waiting on some people to report back.

Guess I wasn't paying attention, but I don't remember seeing that when I ordered.Oh well, all in good time.
Bob Wright 03-07-2005, 06:14 AM I know that it wasn't on there when I ordered.I guess calling them won't help at all then. They wasted no time in taking my money though.

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the confusion on the Dura-shock and the availability date.
We had prototype shocks on a few cars at the Birds' and we received a lot of inquiries on the shock. Once the final part was approved and decided on, we rushed to get the info on the website to help inform people of what was coming and what different shock options would be available. We are truely sorry that some thought they were in stock and ready for shipping.
Good news is the silver parts are coming off the CNC machines now and should be ready to ship later this week. The anodized parts will follow by a week or so. This should put all the Dura-shock parts; both anodized and plain silver to release in mid March.
Speaking of mid-March, our press release on the CRC home page listed the availability date as mid-March the moment it was posted. Being at the bottom caused some people to miss the info. Again, sorry for the confusion regarding the release date.
Jim Rufiange 03-08-2005, 01:00 PM What does it take to get a call or email returned?
travymoto1 03-08-2005, 01:31 PM I've always had great service when ordering from the guys at CRC. I'm going to give it another 10-14 days and then order some myself.
johnnywhopper 03-15-2005, 09:55 AM silver Dura-shocks are now shipping. Red and Blue anodized shocks will be shipping by mon 3/21 or tues 3/22.
Jim - I'll be calling you this afternoon. We finally got delrin arms and steering blocks in also.
John
pancartom 03-15-2005, 11:47 AM jw, are you guys going have these at Fountain for the race at the end of the month????
johnnywhopper 03-15-2005, 01:22 PM i won't have anything with me that's for sale. i'd put a call in to terry to get him to order some. i believe we've got some stuff going out to Fountain this week anyway.

SlaminRC17 03-15-2005, 08:04 PM I got my new CRC DuraShocks this afternoon, everything looks great, and they are nice and smooth... I'd say that they are well worth the money, I will be getting anonther set in a month or so. Kevin
DynoMoHum 03-16-2005, 12:09 PM I wonder... why doesn't somone make a shock where the shaft goes though the oposite end as the cap... like those little 18th scale shocks on RC18Ts... For that matter, has anyone tried using the 18T shocks?
jajnmj 03-16-2005, 01:42 PM I wish someone would market a miniature version of a hpi shock, no more shock problems then!!!!!!!!!!
I ordered some of the shocks and the a-arms....will be here friday and will test them this weekend.
burbs 03-16-2005, 06:13 PM Im currently testing the 18t shocks... The pistons supplied with them, are really loose on the shaft... so there not smooth.. im trying to solve the problem now.. the orings supplied are also very tight fit.. so there is drag on them... For now i would say no there not a very good choice.. when i get the bugs worked out i will be trying them soon. i got the front blue threaded 18 t shocks... other companies make them as well.. ill prolly try a non associated brand to see how the work..
also ther is alot of modifications that need to be made to the 18t shocks.. the cap needs a ball cup added, and the shaft needs to be cut a bit.. also the pan car side springs do not fit.. so right now im in search of a stiffer, spring,, deltas should work.. if i can find the right ones...
Bob Wright 03-16-2005, 08:22 PM burbs I have all kind of Delta springs you can have.I'll give them to Craig this weekend.
burbs 03-16-2005, 10:21 PM yg a pm thanks bob
johnnywhopper 03-23-2005, 01:04 PM well, a bunch of guys should have these by now (at least the silver ones). what do you all think?

John
travymoto1 03-23-2005, 01:57 PM John, post on here when the blue ones are in stock or email me. I want a pair.

Mine seem to be very smooth and so far they don't leak! YEA The included instructions are extremely helpful.Very pleased as of now.
rcjunkie 04-09-2005, 01:44 AM My Dura-Shocks are da-bomb! Smooth, no leaks and they were not expensive at all.
Fireball929 04-10-2005, 08:00 AM Seems to be pretty good. I ran them last night for the first time. But I won't be racing till next fall now.
Later,
Fireball929
swtour 04-15-2005, 10:31 PM With all the GREAT things I've heard about these, I ordered 2 pair today, and if they are "ALL THAT" I'll be ordering enough for all of my cars...
Complete Shock w/ Aluminum Adjusting nuts for less than 16.00, SWEET~
jflack 12-18-2005, 11:00 PM sorry
Jimmy,
I was going to measure mine and let you know,I had them tore apart when you posted your question, but any way they measure,1.89 extended, hope this helps you out.
jflack 12-21-2005, 11:39 PM Thanks, I got 4 shocks and all 4 have different length shock shafts.....I matched 2 sets up, I guess they will work.
Yea it's hard to get two exactly the same I just try to get them as close as possible.I found also that the tops aren't drilled exactly the same depth which makes each one come out a little different if you don't drill them to the exact depth yourself,it was the same with the sylva's also.
erock1331 12-22-2005, 01:02 PM I switched to the CRC's this past summer. Combined with some SG1 Racing machined Piston/shafts you can't go wrong... Smoothest shock I have ever built.
I can actually run more than 8 heats now before I need to rebuid.
A fully built shock seemed a bit longer than the associated shock, so I had to space the shock accordingly
