View Full Version : What are the minimun dimensions for an oval track Ginsu 02-17-2005, 08:50 AM Getting ready to start racing oval with a good group of guys and was wondering if we do go indoors, what is the smallest area we could get away with?........thanks  c barsalow 02-17-2005, 12:21 PM you can run in a circle and get away with it.....20'x20' BrentP 02-17-2005, 12:50 PM I wouldn't reccomend any smaller than 30'x55' for the track area. You will need enough room for pitting as well. You would want a room with a min. of 3000 SF to have room for everything. This is actually smaller than I would reccomend but you can get buy with it. __________________ Brent Pearcy Bulit Motorsports (http://www.bulitmotorsports.com/), TQCells (http://www3.sympatico.ca/tqcells/), BSR Racing Tires (http://www.bsr-racing.com/) Ginsu 02-17-2005, 12:54 PM I wouldn't reccomend any smaller than 30'x55' for the track area. BrentP 02-17-2005, 02:24 PM If you can afford it & there is enough space available, I would try to make the track area 36'x???. Ozite comes in 12' rolls & this way you won't have to cut anything except the length. We recently put in a track that is 36'x69' & our space is 60'x70' & we have plenty of pit space. We are running 3.9's or 60 laps (4 min) in stock & 3.6's or 66 laps (4 min) in 19 turn. It is small but it provides very good close racing!! __________________ Brent Pearcy Bulit Motorsports (http://www.bulitmotorsports.com/), TQCells (http://www3.sympatico.ca/tqcells/), BSR Racing Tires (http://www.bsr-racing.com/) DC71 02-17-2005, 06:38 PM At Trax 70 in Jersey we just built a little Bullring indoors so we can race year round and it's only 22'x43' with 8' lanes and we're having a blast on it. I actually am very surprised, I thought it would be all 1/12th & 1/18th scale but it turns out that 1/10th scale is the biggest class. A real drivers track. If we could we would love for it to be a little larger but the way the building is configured it's as big as we could get it. swtour 02-19-2005, 05:17 AM I love a small track...what a great time and lots of fun to just run lap after lap. That being said...keep the racing lanes as WIDE as possible. I'd make the infield a little narrow and have the corners really tight if needed to keep the lanes wide. This allows a little more room for traffic instead of driving on a ONE lane highway. Raceman 02-22-2005, 02:07 PM If for racing it should not be smaller than 25' x 50' and more of a paperclip form. After all if you have an accident it's not long you fall back a lap or 2. If just for rolling and bashing it would be OK to have even smaller but just wonder if at around 30'x 20' I'd still need carpet. Cars would be low geared and use soft compounds.
