I'm brand new into r/c and have put together a new rc10l4 / jrxs3 w/r300/
lrp q2, and am wondering what servo to put in the car, I'd like to keep the weight down but i dont think I need too much speed for oval. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I'd like to stay under 50 bucks.

Keep in mind its not all about speed of the servo.
A good servo will center up each time which is critical for running consistent lap times and hitting your marks.

If I were you, you already put the money into a good speedo, good car, etc I wouldn't skimp on a cheap servo.

Get a digital and you wont regret it.
Probably the best bang for the buck is either the Futaba 9550 or the JR3421.
Both around $55-60 range. If you really wanna splurge the best servo I have ever ran is the KO PDS-947, later replaced by the PDS-949, but its a bit more like $95

yup that is what I am running now.
its a touch heavier than most of the small mini digi's out there but still lighter than a full size.

Are the digitals worth the money? They are supposed to be more accurate, returning to center, etc.. Ralf 13

If you are gonna be serious about your racing program then buy a digital, they are worth the money, steering is one of the most important things to have consistent - it aids in holding a good line and a good line = fast last times.

If I'm not mistaken, he said he had an AM Radio, I'd get a servo he could afford, but not a cheapo, then upgrade to a radio that he can adjust steering speeds, duel rate, etc.....that way he'll be all set if and when he gets more aggressive.
