View Full Version : Straczynski Wants To Reboot Trek fernieo 02-16-2005, 10:54 AM Right Here: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=0&id=30385 John O 02-16-2005, 11:15 AM I'd be all for it. IMHO, the problem with the folks running Trek now is they aren't Star Trek fans - if you get what I'm saying. I think JMS loves the material and could do an outstanding job re-inventing/re-envisioning and bringing it back where it ought to be at the same time. I just hope he leaves his B5 set painters in Canada please! John O. X15-A2 02-16-2005, 12:36 PM B5 was filmed in a couple of warehouses in the San Fernando Valley, just north of Hollywood, not Canada. But I agree, the set textures were over the top and a distraction. tripdeer 02-16-2005, 12:57 PM B5's set painters were from Canada? That's news to me... sbaxter at home 02-16-2005, 01:02 PM I was never a fan of Babylon 5, but I wouldn't have a problem with JMS giving his idea a shot. Edit: A day after calling for fans to tell Paramount they support his effort to produce a Trek show, he has asked them to hold the phone: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?category=0&id=30399 Qapla' SSB terryr 02-16-2005, 02:20 PM Depends. Would it end up like B5 or Excaliber? One was so right, the other so wrong. tripdeer 02-16-2005, 02:28 PM Excalibur? What was that? Arronax 02-16-2005, 05:09 PM Excalibur? What was that? He means "Crusade" the B5 spin-off that never made it past 12(?) episodes. It was an OK show that had it's good points (the characters) and bad points (the pacing of the stories, the music). Jim SJF 02-16-2005, 07:18 PM Crusade is out on DVD, and while some of the shows were really bad, overall, I thought it had potential. I'd love to see JMS take on Trek. It would certainly be more interesting to watch than what's been presented to us in the past. Sean http://www.mcfergesondvd.com/ Warped9 02-16-2005, 07:43 PM Boy, you guys are a lot more level headed about this here then they are on the TBBS. The Niners over there are having fits. And all JMS did was muse in public that he had an idea he'd like to put forth to Paramount. Long running debate here. The Niners over there are having fits. When are they not having fits?? Lloyd Collins 02-17-2005, 01:25 PM Well I guess we will have to wait in a year or two, for B & B to restart ST. BATBOB 02-17-2005, 01:39 PM I'm willing to overlook cannon/continuity type stuff as long as the episodes/films are entertaining. For instance, I overlooked: 1) The different versions of the Enterprise from scene to scene...sometimes in the same episode. 2) I never forget a face. Chekov's in Wrath of Khan. He wasn't even there. 3) Hey, how come everyone is a blonde in Wrath of Khan? and Younger? Some of the original Botany Bay crew must have survived. 4) Star Trek III - The Enterprise is only 20 years old? She's a heck've alot older and didn't you just refit her? Scrap be damned. etc etc. I'm willing to overlook the modern look of the Romulans and Klingons in Enterprise because you should make due with the best that you have. But the stories have to be entertaining, and of late they are. I'm willing to watch a reboot too. As long as it's good. I haven't seen the BG series yet, but the mini-series was good. Fresh eyes are sometimes needed. Admiral Nelson 02-19-2005, 06:41 PM ST had died a little since 1991 when the last TOS crew movie was made. Killing off Kirk was the first mistake and now with the killing of ST cannon on Enterprise, there is no doubt that B&B have done in the Trek franchise. It is dead and there is no hope of reviving it for at least 10 years and then it will never enjoy the hype caused in 1979 during the first movie. Trek is over folks and no letter writing and wringing of hands will change that. Deal with it. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
