Anybody a fan of the tv show The Immortal? Originally an ABC Movie of the Week in 1969, the series aired on ABC in the fall of 1970 and only lasted 15 episodes. Christopher George(Rat Patrol) starred as Ben Richards a test car driver who discovers he has unusual blood. He never gets sick, he will never grow old, and if injured he heals real fast. A transfusion temporarily transfers these properties to the receiptant. An aging, sick, evil Howard Hughes type billionaire finds about about Richard's blood and wants to lock him away and receive regular transfusions so he can live forever, making Richards a prisoner for eternity. Richards is on the run from the MIB types who work for the billionaire trying to capture him. Richards was an orphan and has a brother out there somewhere that may also have the special blood. He wants to find him and warn him before the billionare's hoods find him first. Carol Lynley(Night Stalker) played Richards' girlfried in the pilot and first episode, in which he comes out of hiding because she is getting married to his best friend played by Glenn Corbett, who in a later episode plays a guy who may be his lost brother.
Anyway, I have the complete series and pilot movie on tape from the sci-fi channel. Recorded in the early days(1993) with no pop-up promos and split screen crap. There are comments during the commercial breaks by people associated with the show(producer, writer, director). The tapes are second generation. I didn't get sci-fi channel until '98 and had a friend make me copies of his. I'm am currently transferring them to dvd and should be done in a week or so. This show is obscure enough that I don't think Paramount will ever release it to dvd and need to do something with the tapes. It would be a crime to record over them so I was wondering if someone out there would like to trade for them. Awhile ago there was thread that dealt with the tv show P.R.O.B.E. /Search and would love to trade for copies of those or anything else hard to find.

I remember watching that series when it was on tv. I liked it, but it reminded me of The Fugitive in that the main character would get involved with others in each episode until the MIB(:)) got too close. Then he'd have to move on. In hindsight, I guess it was similar to The Incredible Hulk too.

Boy, Christopher George was one great actor! Right up there with Stephen Boyd.

Laugh if you will, but back in the late 1960's, early 70's he was known as the king of the tv movie. And they made alot of tv movies back then.

He was in a TV movie about a Mars astronaut who is replaced by a duplicate to cover-up a death in the space program. I guess it sounded so good that they had to make the movie "Capricorn One".

Correction. Been a long time since I've watched these. The actor who may be Richards' long lost brother is Michael Strong, Dr. Roger Corby in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" episode of Star Trek.

"Christine!!!"

Speaking of fugitives, I am reminded of a Gene Rodenberry pilot about an android who had the wrong tapes loaded into his memory. It was called something like the Spectre tapes, Anderson tapes, or something like that.
It had a pretty good mysterious plot with a "sub" culture that supported the android and that cool cave scene at the end.

You're thinking of THE QUESTOR TAPES. SPECTRE was another Roddenberry pilot from the '70s.

Have you noticed that since the '70s most network SF shows seem to be based on either Star Trek or the Fugitive. In fact, the network was interested in QUESTOR, but didn't like Roddenberry's original idea. They wanted it to be about Questor being pursued by the government. In other words, The Fugitive with a robot.

Yes, I too remember The Immortal and liked it at the time. I also remember watching The Tonight Show and hearing Johnny Carson quip something like; "The Immortal, about a man who can live forever, its been on the air "*" weeks and its already dying...." The irony!

yes, that's it. the Questor tapes. If the Sci Fi channel wanted to re-pop something, that might go well considering it hasn't gone farther than the original pilot. Speaking of Gene's idea's, I also enjoyed Genesis II.

It is a sad comment on creativity in the 21st century.

I liked Christopher George in the Rat Patrol and The Immortal.

I also liked the Questor Tapes as well.
