View Full Version : Just a comment to all of you customizers.
Dadvball 02-12-2005, 12:04 AM  I would just like to compliment all of you on the awesome work and the pics you post. I for one, have only done a handfull myself. I can tell you right now I don't have the patience you do. I enjoy working on something, but it does get a little frustrating trying to work with this scale.
The first forum I check now is this one. I can't wait to see what you guys have come up with. So keep on posting pictures of your work. It helps to inspire me, and possibly others, to try our hand(s) at customizing. Thank you.
Porsche911GT3 02-12-2005, 01:13 AM Thanks for the compliments!
For beginners, try working on simple wheels swaps. Get a JL with rubber tires and just peel the entire wheel off and swap out different sized tires and/or different wheels. It's easy and the results can be awesome!
This was one of my first customs. All I did was swap big meats onto the back wheels, swapped out the engine, and then I decided to cut a hole in the hood (optional, of course ;) ).

jnkfleet 02-12-2005, 02:50 AM Bill You sure know how to make people feel warm all over  ...Thank You!
I count You among Us too...
We do have a wealth of talented folks on this board, I think there's a bit of customizer in most people who enjoy looking for these fun little cars/trucks, any and all brands & scales, some are patient and others driven to attempt customizing..From novice to consumate pro and every level in between have been/are willing to share what info/tips/tricks they have to help others feel less intimidated about customizing, and also inspire us to just try it.
It all adds up to a fantastic array of custom creations, I to enjoy the pics almost as much as the subject, yet another area of creativity...After all what is a custom without being able to see it?
Any help I can give, You only need to ask.

Ricky2400 02-12-2005, 12:42 PM It takes plenty of time and patience to do a custom! Actually, it's therapeutic for me, and I LOVE cars in general!! Hardly a day passes in which I'm not doing a paint, wheel swap, or detail!

Cletuss 02-12-2005, 12:43 PM Customs are awesome, they let collectors build something thats special or personal to them. Plus they give us the consumer a chance to buy something that HW or JL havent produced yet or probably never would. For instance i would love to buy a custom carded NHL Redwings DragBus..yea baby, just makes me tingle just thinking about it. Yes i said something about the NHL, The Strike sucks but i still love the wings.

You put it all neatly in a nut-shell. I wouldn't suppose I have a model that doesn't click some special synapse. They also document in 3D miniature the development of world automotive history. Not to mention the development of the diecast model.
I have the uncanny ability or misfortune to labor for hours on a project only to find it similarly produced six months down the road. Life's just full of ironies. But you are still right They didn't produce mine and its a one off.
Oooo! Oooo! Ooo! I've just got one of those HW Low Flow's that i didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do with it....That Red Wing logo would look good on that bus. Check out some of "CadillacPat's" "Low Flows." Bad to the bone.
Did they go on strike??? Haven't seen the or heard the news today. I'm not a big hockey fan; but I get interested in it when I watch it. Its a hard, fast, sport. I'm not sure of the issues of the strike nor do I have an opinion on it other than I hate to see the sport haulted over it.
