That's funny... Sadly true, but funny. Loony 02-10-2005, 09:49 AM Jon i put a thread in (on-road) also to make it fair... Loony 02-11-2005, 09:08 AM bump :freak: munsonator008 02-11-2005, 09:22 AM yea people from cali will be voting to decide your outcome lol munsonator008 02-11-2005, 09:31 AM The problem with clay is that you are limited to the same track lay out for a long time because it is so hard you cant break it up. Also if you dont water the track at hobby sports you dont get any traction. This track needs to be watered during the week to hold moisture and most of the time does not get watered like it should because everyone is to busy there or other reasons. The track gets watered on race day mornings and between heats but there is always a big uproar from everyone because some people like alot of water and some a little. Also most of the time if your in the later heats or mains your pretty much screwed because the track is drying out. You also have the chance of people slipping from the clay beeing wet. I guess if you like cleaning the clay off your cars and cleaning your tires every race, motor spray cleaning then traction compound not to mention dremiling your tires, and running on the same track layout week after week after week then vote for the clay. If you like a different track layout weekly with the option of running road course, oval AND STADIUM without any traction problems and to clean your car you blow it off and its like new then i would vote for carpet, I think that its time for something new at R L and i think that carpet would be a good choice. Oh yea not to mention all the clay that gets dragged in the store, a heck of alot cleaner. and you also have 2 people working there that carpet racing was there stomping grounds. just my 2 cents thx Dwayne Munson Loony 02-11-2005, 03:04 PM your right, more options = more racers = more money = bigger races... ....everyone wins KevinDog 02-14-2005, 10:03 AM I wanna race on waxed linoleum covered with sawdust. Scott b#111 02-14-2005, 06:58 PM I wanna race on waxed linoleum covered with sawdust. Ya with foam tires soaked in water. Loony 02-15-2005, 09:09 AM keep the feedback coming please... BU1SEABEE 02-22-2005, 10:14 AM I just got back into racing and the only track is at R n L. My son is having trouble controlling the vehicle only due to the fact that the track isn't watered during the weekly practices. I think that carpet would be a better solution to most of the younger guys' racing experince. They are the future of racing. Most of the grumbling I hear at the track is mostly how they don't like the clay surface. I really enjoy a challange, but do miss the carpet, oval and road course, in the OLD KROGER store in jackson. My stomping grounds. I am really excited about RnL changing over to carpet, hopefully, it would be a pleasant change for the better. JonHobbies 02-23-2005, 02:04 PM Thanks for the feedback ! Loony 02-27-2005, 11:17 AM bump............... redbaron 02-27-2005, 11:55 PM The track is so little now....might as well lay some carpet down. JonHobbies 02-28-2005, 09:54 AM The track is so little now....might as well lay some carpet down. Its always nice to here from you John Baron. redbaron 02-28-2005, 01:35 PM Its always nice to here from you John Baron. Thanks Jon, I would run there alot more but the track has gotten too small. Not sure of the reasoning but it's ok. John Barron / Evolution GrafiX GirlsRC2 02-28-2005, 01:50 PM I can't really say that I notice much difference with the track being smaller. I know a lot was cut out, but still....it didn't make that much difference to me. Jon, when are you going to announce the results from the voting on Saturday? JonHobbies 02-28-2005, 03:46 PM I can't really say that I notice much difference with the track being smaller. I know a lot was cut out, but still....it didn't make that much difference to me. Jon, when are you going to announce the results from the voting on Saturday? Very soon ! I went to hobby Hub in lansing sunday and raced some 1/12 scale carpet with Taz. It was a good time lots of traction. GirlsRC2 02-28-2005, 03:54 PM I went to hobby Hub in lansing sunday and raced some 1/12 scale carpet with Taz. It was a good time lots of traction. :( I have a feeling I already know my answer. I understand - I guess. (Don't knock it 'til you try it, right?) vortecd 02-28-2005, 10:58 PM A complaint that comes up a lot is how much grip the track has. If it is watered real good there is plenty of bite, if it isn't it is slippery. Has it ever been brought up to water the track the night before and not water it again during the races? The track would be dry and everyone could use a tire like the prolines evil twins or what ever that worked with a dusty track. The track would pretty much stay the same all day and you wouldn't have one race were it is grippy and the next where it is slippery. I came out a few Sundays to practice and I felt it didn't help much since I only had slicks and the track was like ice. But if the track wasn't watered, I would have the right tires with a practice day would be like a race day. I see a lot of novice racers that come in for the first time and half the reason they can't get around the track is because they have some sort of knobby tire and not slicks. We would not have to have a 15 minute break either to water the track and could get the racing over sooner. You could do a quick 5 since some people want to go have a smoke. It has been kinda slow this year so getting out of there has not been too much of an issue but it was pushing 6:00 last Saturday. Loony 03-01-2005, 12:50 AM I see a lot of novice racers that come in for the first time and half the reason they can't get around the track is because they have some sort of knobby tire and not slicks. And the oil in their shocks is gone, and the arms are slammed all the way down because they are running 40 pound springs... I have tried to help a few kids by giving them or their father info and suggestions on a tire choice or suspension help, some have listened and are faster now but most wont listen. The track would pretty much stay the same all day and you wouldn't have one race were it is grippy and the next where it is slippery. The track had mad grip all day, I was in race 7 and it was awesome, Are you running slicks and if so do you dremel them to rough em up alittle, or are they all shiny and smooth? Loony 03-01-2005, 12:55 AM HEY JON.... be sure to add in the votes from the on-road thread.
