Looks good from the previews but they can be misleading.

Well, you can't always trust critics, but a guy I generally agree with was just on the radio talking about it.

He said it may be remembered as the worst film of 2005 and even mentioned MST3K in the same breath. That may be a good thing if we're talking unintentionally funny.

Has there been a "good" movie based on a video game?

RottenTomates.com is showing it at 3%. However, the last time I checked I couldn't click through to the actual page for the movie.

I like the older horror film by the same title. Star Jack Palance, Martin Landau and Donald Pleasence. Bunch of homicidal psychos escape from institution during a power blackout. Seems there was no backup to the electronic locks on their cells.

"Oh no!!! It's the bleeder!!!"

The director's previous film-based-on-a-vidyagame "House of the Dead" purportedly had actual clips from the vidyagame cut into the movie.
Clips from a vidyagame!
Tara Reid plays anthropologist by wearing glasses.
Wearing glasses!

RottenTomatoes.com is working now and boy, the reviews (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alone_in_the_dark/) are vicious. So what happened to Christian Slater's career?

Wearing glasses!

Babes always play scientist by donning glasses, see Denise Richards in that one Bond flick as a nuclear physicist..

Wow! those are some viscious reviews!

His film career seems to be in decline.

He was a bit player in Renny Harlin's unreleased serial killer flick "Mindhunters" though he was memorably dispatched.

He got rave reviews in London for his stagework in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" despite the obvious charges of a career built on imitating Nicholson.

If you ever read the tabloids, Christian seems to have a bit of a "party" lifestyle. That can sometimes cause "career" problems.

I was just watching the news and they said it has already been nominated for a 2005 "Razzie" award. LOL!

Wow! Those reviews are some of the funniest things I've read in a loonnngg time! I must be a masochist, because reading them actually makes me want to see the movie, just to prove to myself that it's as bad as they say it is!

Well, "good" is relative, but I really did enjoy the first Tomb Raider, and Resident Evil, on a certain level.
