The capacitors will either be obvious (disc-shaped devices soldered to the outside of the motor can) or less obvious. Less obvious capacitors are tiny rectangles (like this (http://www.cornell-dubilier.com/surfaceframe.htm)) that may be mounted in slots on the endbell or on little printed circuit boards in the endbell.
If you have no capacitors, it's an easy fix. Go to an electronic parts store (like Radio Shack) and buy a packet of 104 capacitors. The "104" means
10 x 10^4 picofarads
Since a picofarad is 1 x 10^-12 farads, a 104 capacitor is actually 0.1 micro farads.
Solder three 104 capacitors to the motor: 1 between the + terminal and the motor can, 1 between the - terminal and the motor can, and a third between the + and - terminals.
Some speed controls recommend 102 capacitors (0.001 microfarads) instead. And if you've got a mechanical (rotary or wiper) speed control, I'm not sure what you should use. Probably a higher capacitance, like 1 or 2 microfarads.

You might also read the answer to the previous time you asked this question, where I posted that the Speed Gems Amber DOES have capacitors (the small 'surface mount' type), built into the endbell... I know because I have 3 of them...
