I want opinions on what the best touring car is for an indoor asphalt track?

Seriously, there is no best car. Any of the top manufactures are good.

Everyone will have their opinion depending on their experience good or bad. With a touring car you need to spend track time to learn the car. Many do not spend enough time with a car and abandon it.

The criteria you should look at is:

1) What do the local hobby shops support for parts?
2) Do you prefer shaft or belt drive?
3) How much do you want to spend?
4) How serious are you and should you buy new or used?

Otherwise, any of these will work:

Associated TC4 - Shaft
HPI Pro 4 - Shaft
Alex Barracude R3 - Shaft
Tamiya Evo IV - Shaft
Yokomo SD or CGM - Shaft

Team Losi JRXS - Belt
Schumacher Mi2 - Belt
Tamiya 415 - Belt
XRay T1FK - Belt
Corally RDX - Belt

You should visit the track and ask some questions

SlipNSlide hit the nail on the head.....
Apples and oranges
Chevy and Ford and Chrysler
It is up to you to do the research and see what you would think you like best.
My preference was a shaft drive car. Instant acceleration. No belts to slip or break.
Belt cars seem smoother. With smoother acceleration.
Then cost is a factor.
Get the best you can afford and what your hobby shop supports. Also don't be embarrassed to ask around at your local tracks. Some guys might even offer you a test ride... you never know.
Hope this helps.

dang.. a nail on the head.

best thing is... what your hobbyshop/track supports. what the local guys run.

otherwise... he said most of what i'd say.

if you can test drive a couple cars at your local track.. (ask nicely) you can gt a feel. each car drives differently in different peoples hands....

practice, get the best route and setup on nthe track, and boom.. you got the fastest TQ car.

My experience has been that the "best car" is always the one that hits the hobbyshop shelves about 4-6 months AFTER I just bought a new car! :freak:

... this may explain SlipNSlide's omission of the Losi XXX-S G+ from the list of belt-driven cars - the not-yet-but-soon-to-be-released Losi JRXS is reputed to run rings around the venerable XXX-S G+ [at least on carpet - for parking lot racing the xxx-s may be the better choice].

Luckyman4:

My omission is purely an a slip because I have JRXS on the brain with all the posts on the various forums. As I stated, whatever you choose it does not matter.

In addition, the XXX-S G+ will no longer be in production and you need to eventually purchase the XXX-S RTR II and then spend all the extra money to make it a XXX-S G+. At that point it will be cheaper to purchase the JRXS.

As far as what I own, I have Schumacher Mi2 and two XXX-S G+ because they are going for cheap because everyone is selling them in expectation of the new Losi.

I never buy new because there is usually someone who gives up on the new car within months of its release for one reason or another.

But the funniest thing is that my brother just purchased a NIB in Box XRAY T1FK for $200 because all the XRay people are feak'n out about the new FK05 that someone says is on the just released 2005 Xray price list. He saved $150 because someone paniked -- geez!

I like to build my own race car. There is a right way and a wrong way to build these cars and I don't want someone elses thrown together POS. Look at the new Corally RDX it's nice and does very well in these parts.
