brainiac 01-21-2005, 09:44 AM Looking for bubble helmet for Flash.Doesn`t have to be an original.A recast would do mighty fine! Thanx Brian veedubb67 01-21-2005, 10:44 AM Yeah, while you're at it, I need a helmet for my 18" Mars Attacks trooper. Zorro 01-23-2005, 01:34 PM Good luck. I've got two built-ups of this kit, each with one half of the helmet - both are yellowed and scratched pretty badly. I've racked my brain trying to find a reasonable substitute over the years. Andrew Gorman 01-23-2005, 03:26 PM A round (or roundish) light bulb? Cut the bottom off with a Dremel carbide disk and pop it on flash's head? Andrew Jokerman 01-23-2005, 03:38 PM What's the diameter of the bubble? Surely plastruct has a hemisphere that would be a good substitue! Bob F91 01-23-2005, 10:59 PM I don't know the exact diameter, but I was looking in craft stores for a plastic christmas ornament that could be used. The actual dome is smaller than a lightbulb. Zorro 01-24-2005, 10:59 AM Problem is, it tapers at the bottom and has to fit securely at the neck. I don't see how a light bulb would work because you would have to cut it in half to get it over the head. Plastic - maybe - but I've never run across anything that was the right size or shape. http://home.comcast.net/~cinorjer/flash.htm brainiac 01-24-2005, 04:27 PM I think the only true solution is to find someone who knows how to clear cast one half of the helmet because I believe it is perfectly round. It would be a waste of time to mold both. Brian F91 01-24-2005, 04:33 PM Brian, Look at Scott's link, that's what it looks like. brainiac 01-27-2005, 09:57 AM I spoke to my friend who is a FX artist & he said he would have no problem recasting the helmet if you would loan him the half helmet you have. He has an acrylic resin they use for casting eyes that would make it better than the original. I know you don`t know me but I have dealt with Rich (tblazer) before if you want to speak to him.Better yet check out my feedback on ebay under the name promotherobot. Give it a thought . Give it a thought . Thanx Brian Hey brainiac - I'd actually be happy to do this! I'm at work now so give me until tonight at least (I'll have to rumage a little bit) and I'll get back in touch with you. This is great! F91 01-27-2005, 10:49 AM Hey Scott, Do you have both Bases and the little alien dude? I know I could use that stuff. Zorro 01-27-2005, 11:04 AM Hey Scott, Do you have both Bases and the little alien dude? I know I could use that stuff. Rich - I have two complete Flash figures with base/one helmet half with each, can't remember whether I have only one or two nameplates, one original Martian with base missing one antennae, and two resin recast aliens without bases. Again, I've got stuff socked away in 15 different places so I'm going to have to do a little rumaging to get everything together. As long as I end up with one completed kit with a nice clean bubble helmet and a restored Martian antennae - I'll be very happy. F91 01-27-2005, 01:12 PM Cool! Is your Flash assembled? I'm gonna try and cast the non-gun hand for Brian. My Flash is assembled, except for the hands and holsters. Plus, mines' gun is damaged, but it should be an easy fix. Heck, I didn't even know there was a nameplate! Zorro 01-27-2005, 03:08 PM Both of mine are built-ups. One figure I've repainted and one I haven't. I'll email both of you guys tonight. I'm pretty sure we can work something out to our mutual satisfaction and possibly end up with all the parts/recast parts that each of us want. Zorro 01-27-2005, 07:17 PM Okay, I've rumaged and actually found everything - which is a miracle. Braniac - I'm going to email Rich and see if he has your email. If he doesn't, send me a private message (by clicking on the smartass cow icon at the upper left) with your email and we should be able to get this ball rolling. F91 01-27-2005, 07:21 PM I sent it to you Scott, this is great! Zorro 01-27-2005, 07:33 PM Rich - I was mailing you while you were mailing me. Check your mail. Zorro 01-31-2005, 03:33 PM Packages mailed out today. brainiac 02-08-2005, 06:18 PM Thanks to Zorro loaning his Flash helmet half we will soon have helmets! I will keep everybody posted. Thanx Again Zorro! brainiac 02-10-2005, 10:22 AM I`m waiting for an email back from my buddy to see when we can hook up to give him the helmet half to mold. He sometimes works 16 hr. days on the set.But trust me on this I`ve known this guy for 10 yrs. He`s going to be sculpting a Anthony Quinn replacement head for the hunchback. He will be sculpting alot of cool stuff,I really wish you`d join my yahoo group. That`s where you`ll find this stuff.I`m telling you this guy does amazing work. Thanx BRAINIAC Zorro 02-11-2005, 10:00 PM braniac - sorry, hadn't checked this thread in a few days. I plan on joining the group - I have just been incredibly busy with work and other things. I'm happy you got the helmet piece and if it takes a while - no big whoop. MonsterModelMan 02-16-2005, 12:08 AM Hey guys, I just acquired a build up of the Flash Gordon and Martian from e-bay. However, Flash is missing both the bags on the utility belt for both sides. Do you know where I can get a resin replacement or an original part of these? Plus, my martian has broken antenaes too! MMM veedubb67 02-16-2005, 02:52 PM MMM, Congrats on the new acquistion. I was following that listing as well. Rob F91 02-16-2005, 04:09 PM Bob, you got that for a good price. BTW, I can have those resin parts made up for you in the next week or two. The antenna's, you're on your own! MonsterModelMan 02-16-2005, 08:21 PM Rich, YOU would be doing me a great favor! As far as the antenea parts...I just need a good pic of what they look like and I can try to fabricate some unless someone wants to make me a new head for the martian. I was also looking at the Wonder Woman that the guy was offering but I had to go to sleep and couldn't bid how I would have like to. E-mail me with the details! Thanks again! MMM Zorro 02-16-2005, 10:37 PM Rich, YOU would be doing me a great favor! As far as the antenea parts...I just need a good pic of what they look like and I can try to fabricate some unless someone wants to make me a new head for the martian. MMM There's a link on the firat page of this thread showing a pic of the martian. A little melted sprue should do or a couple of sewing needles if you're real lazy. Got a link to the auction? I'd like to see what you got. MonsterModelMan 02-17-2005, 12:55 AM Zorro, Here is the link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5955764793&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D5955764793) I didn't think I did too bad on the deal... MMM Zorro 02-17-2005, 01:02 AM Nope. Not too bad. One of the two I had was listed as an Aurora Flash Gordon. I got that one for $17.00 but it only had half the helmet and no alien - and that was 3 or 4 years ago. Good deal on yours! How much did the Wonder Woman go for and what kind of shape was it in? F91 02-17-2005, 01:18 AM I don't know what she went for, but it was missing the rope from it. Looked complete outside of that. MonsterModelMan 02-17-2005, 08:28 AM She went for $102...which is still a great price! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5955786609&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D5955786609) She looks like she was missing the rope and also the top of the tentacle on the far right side. I wanted to bid on this but it closed really late and I figured she was going to go for way more than I would have paid. Too bad as I would have gone to $150 possibly for this kit. I have a resin version of this kit that I haven't built yet from RetroResin. MMM Zorro 02-17-2005, 10:58 AM You know what? I could be wrong, but that WW looks like a recast to me - and a very bad one at that. Details are way soft! I can't even see the chest emblem or the stars on her tushy. Look at the sandals. Yeah, the pic is low rez - but so is the kit! I've got the Pythonkits resin version and it's a very crisp replication. I'd say you're lucky you didn't win this one.:) MonsterModelMan 02-18-2005, 01:18 AM Zorro, You know...now that I looked at the pictures alittle closer...you may be correct! I think that Geoff Boaz from the BB may have picked this kit up as he has it listed in the swap and sell that he is in need of the lasso. I'd be real curious to find this info out! Maybe I did by accident or fate dodge a bullet! MMM Geoff Boaz 02-18-2005, 01:28 PM Hi guys Yep, I noticed that auction too. She seems really questionable on being a real AURORA. So I got this one instead http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=88882&item=6510662663&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW (http://www.qksrv.net/click-1606754-5463217?loc=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D6510662663) And this is the one I will restore, and need a lasso replacement part for. Any suggestions please LMK. I'll post pics of the restore once it gets going. regards geoff Ravenauthor 02-18-2005, 02:38 PM Might have a Flash Gordon for sale, built, missing pieces and martian. Nice, clear, complete helmet. Will have pictures up later. Make offer, but I doubt I'll let it go for less than $15.00 *including* shipping if it's in the continental US. If more than one of you want it, I'll have to figure something out. I'd like to restore it, but funds are low, and I'm trying to concentrate of collecting Aurora only for now. edit: Added pictures of the Flash Gordon http://www.scatteredplastic.com/forsale/flashgordon/ Larry ------------ Scattered Plastic Webzine http://www.scatteredplastic.com Kits for Sale http://www.scatteredplastic.com/forsale brainiac 02-18-2005, 10:53 PM What`s your best price to ship to Canada? Thanx Brainiac F91 02-23-2005, 10:43 AM Bob, I made the molds, just have to pour the pieces. Brian, did you buy the Flash? brainiac 02-23-2005, 11:47 AM Yeah I did. What repro parts for this do you have available if any? Zorro lent me a helmet half & I have a friend molding & pouring up helmets but he has a busy schedule. He works sometimes 16 hr. days on movie sets. Brian F91 02-23-2005, 12:27 PM Brian, I'm molding the holster and ammo pouch. I also have an extra resin Martian. I can mold a base if anyone needs one of those too. MonsterModelMan 02-23-2005, 05:56 PM Rich, Can I get an idea of what the martian looks like with antennaes? Mine are broken off and will have to be replaced. Maybe snap a pic and e-mail it to me. Also, send me an e-mail with how to get the utility belt and ammo pouch from you. I don't know what else might be missing as I am still waiting for my kit to arrive. MMM brainiac 02-23-2005, 06:49 PM Yeah I`d be real interested in the pouch, base & martian.I also have a piece missing from gun.Can you give me some idea on price?I`m in the process of moving so there is no rush. Thanx Brian Zorro 02-23-2005, 06:53 PM Rich, Can I get an idea of what the martian looks like with antennaes? Mine are broken off and will have to be replaced. Maybe snap a pic and e-mail it to me. MMM There is a LINK TO A PHOTO of The Martian on the first page of this thread. F91 02-23-2005, 07:32 PM The Martians I got from Scott, there aren't any antennas. The resin stuff, I'm doing that as a favor to fellow board members, although I think the base will be a lot of resin, relatively speaking. We can trade stuff and owe each other, but I'm not looking for any money. F91 02-24-2005, 02:25 AM I did 2 sets of the holster and pouch. Turned out pretty good. You guys will have to let me know what you need. MonsterModelMan 02-24-2005, 10:21 AM Rich, I know for sure that I need a holster and pouch! I'll send you an e-mail with my contact info! Thanks for the favor! Bob brainiac 02-24-2005, 04:46 PM It sounds like I`m going to need a pouch,a martian & a base. Brian MonsterModelMan 02-25-2005, 08:00 PM Brian, How can I get a set of helmet halves? I just got my Flash build-up from the seller on e-bay and man oh man is this going to need some major modeling mojo done to it to get him back in shape. It looks like a kid did this build-up with mis-aligned parts put together and gaps that are 1/4 inch apart! Even Flash is leaning as he stands on the base! I would have never got that from the pics on e-bay! This will need some major work to get him back in shape. He even has a burn or ding mark out of the back of his leg...small and putty should fix that right up! I definately will do a before pic and after pic on this one like I did for my 1966 Aurora Captain America! MMM brainiac 02-25-2005, 08:19 PM I might know more this weekend. This buddy that`s doing them is an FX artist that puts in some long hours so it`s kinda of hit & miss with him. He`s pouring them from acrylics they use for making prop eyes. I will keep everybody updated. This same buddy is doing custom resin Aurora kits for my Figure-ites Unite yahoo group. IRONMAN (bulky armour) is the first planned & I`m doing Aurora style box prints to be companion pieces. Both will probably limited to maybe 50. Thanx Brian Zorro 02-26-2005, 12:47 PM You mean the early 60s gold Iron Man? Done Aurora style? I would definitely be interested in one of those if the sculpt and box-art are good. F91 02-26-2005, 12:51 PM Heck, ANY style IM! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
