I had a real slow Thunderjet+ (I know, weren't they all slow?) and a spare JLTO chassis so I thought about all the deficencies that both of these chassis have and combined parts of each to make a super chassis. I dissasembled both and took inventory of what I had. The Thunder+ has excellent machining, brush, axle and armiture holes all are real nice, but a crappy armiture and weak magnets. Plus a gear ratio that limits the car too. The JL has a nice set of magnets, good armiture and gear ratio. Easy swap... I used the Thunder+ chassis with all JL internals, brushes, Magnets (tight fit but they go in and won't come out), and top plate with armiture were swaped in. The pinion gear from the JL car was used on the Thunder+ rear axle along with some AF/X wheels and tires. I ended up with a very tight and fast car, the lack of chassis slop made for a quicker car. Well that wasn't the suprising thing, swapping in the Thunder+ parts into the JL chassis made that nice and fast too. That was the big surprise to me. I may have to look for a bunch of Thunder+ chassis just for fun...
