Books: Tarzan sired his son.
Movies: Tarzan finds his son.

Books: His son is named after his Dad,John Greystoke.
Movies: He's named 'Boy'. Who the heck would name a kid that, especially if Jane had any say in it?

Books: Jack, his nickname, is just like Tarzan at various ages in all ways and becomes a fearsome hero.
Movies: He's not.

Books: Jack saves Tarzan's life on at least one occasion.
Movies: The chimp saves Tarzan's life.

Books: Jack is given the name Korak The Killer because of his awsome skills and achievements.
Movies: He's only known as Boy and never is much of a swashbuckler type.

So, was Bomba illigitimate?

Sheffield's Bomba was probably a sissy boy compared to the REAL Bomba of the books. Then again, I don't know about the book Bomba.

The book series was lots more successful than the film series that lasted what, 3 movies? Of all the Tarzan take offs, Bomba lasted the longest and was the most successful in book form and was a comic book too. Korak was a comic book as well I think.

Ther are 14 Bomba movies. One thing about them is the very grisley deaths of the bad guys. Kind of suprises you considering they were aimed at kids.

14??!! I could swear AMC, etc only showed three or four Bombas. Even when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's only 3 or 4 were shown. Were the others lost?

It's been ages since I saw a Bomba movie. I don't remember grissly deaths. I assume Bomba in the movies was way more Tarzan like than Boy was. I sort of remember Bomba fighting a lion or big cat but not sure. Probably low budget flicks compared to Tarzans.

Sheffield is pretty much playing Boy in the Bombas. In several you see the villians get ripped to pieces by lions or alligators with pieces of bloody ripped up clothes in their teeth. I Haven't watched them for quite awhile but remember being quite suprised by the level of violence in some of them. Definately PG-13.
