Ummm ...NOT. Looks ...what's the phrase I'm looking for? ...completely stupid. Maybe it's not, but there are so many other movies to waste 8 bucks on. I think I'd go see Polar Express again (and I mean that, I liked it) before I'd see White Noise.

I'll probably watch it when it plays on "free" tv.
I find the commercials a little desperate with the imperious voiceover insisting there's legitimacy to the phenomenon the film is built around.
On a related note, DeNiro did another schlocky (anyone see Godsend?) horror/thriller; this time costarring Dakota Fanning.

Hey, c'mon guys! I was the sacrificial lamb on "Darkness." Someone's gotta go check out White Noise and give us the skinny.

I rented The Godsend a few weeks ago. It had some promise, but ultimately spiralled downward into the same old cliched mess. What exactlyhas happened to DeNiro? The whole turn to comedy, the marginal projects, etc. Remember the good old days when a DeNiro film was really something to anticipate?

The commercial kind of creeped me out. Maybe I'll be the lamb this weekend.

How's it going Fluke!

My brother saw it with some folks who believe that "EVP" is real. He said it was creepy more than scary -- reminded him a little of an M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie in that sense. Said it was strange that the movie explained EVP fairly well, but then depicted Beetlejuice boy doing what EVP researchers don't do, which is sit and listen for sounds real-time. Usually, so the thinking goes, such things are inaudible to our ears but are picked by electronics and can be made audible, especially with computer processing -- although that tends to be harder to present as genuine.

My brother thinks it might be real, in some cases. I think it is a load of crap, myself (or it comes from a source other than the "spirits of those who have passed beyond"), although I could see how the movie might be creepy anyway.

When you do hear EVP recordings.....why is it just one or a few words?

Heck who knows what kind of glitches or stuff can jump on to a phone line, tape recorder or what ever?

The EVP's I have heard don't sound that obvious .....and unless the 'subtitle' didn't say what it was suposed to be you would not even begin to guess what it is!

I'm not saying it can't happen....but most of the 'GHOST' stuff you see on TV is bolarky.

Howdy Elgato!

You guys need to see this 'real?' ghost image.....while making a car commercial they found something on the film!

"Creepy" is enough for me to go see it. It can't be worse than Darkness.

Fluke,

Just came back from seeing it. My impression is that it couldve been written better. It is suspenseful, more so than scary. If you still want to see it, do it as a rental. If you can't wait, see it as a matinee. Personally, I think the Twilight Zone episode where the old man communicates to his wife through a downed telephone line captures the essence of EVP better.

Thanks amigo!

I think I will wait.

I agree....isn't it funny how those old Twilit zone and outer limits episodes are better than most films released today?
