It is probably 10 minutes from the track. There is a ghetter hotel across the street from the track. Other than that I don't know of any hotels that are in the area.

Has there been any consideration in allowing only 3300's for this race? I realize that many people have the new cells and would like to use them, but from talking to out of towners that potentially want to come to this race it seems as though there are more people without them than with them. ARCOR is the only sanctioning body that is allowing the use of these cells so far and that is only in the "factory mod class", stock and 19t are still 33's. The ROAR nats next month are 33's only as well. It is a tough situation this close to the event, but if it potentially draws additional people it may make the race larger at the expense of upsetting those with the new cells. I personally dont care what cells are ran. I dont intend to stir the waters, but I am posing the question in a atempt to interest more racers.

I think Zig is right, even though allowing the 3700's would make little difference if any to performance, I think people from out of town would feel more comfortable allowing just 3300's. I'll be there either way.

i have no problem running my 33's against 37's in stock or 19T. My voltage is pretty stout, and you're not going to dump in 4 minutes. the only place you'll see a difference is in mod, and even then it'll only be a slight difference. If it was 8 minute races, then the 33's would have something to worry about.

my .02, even though it wasn't asked for.

i personally dont care what is run but i also know a few guys from my area (northeast pa) that feel they cant compete with 3600 and 3700 packs. i dont know if they are any better or not though

Modified is the only place it will truly matter. How much??? Who knows!!! I have 3300's, race modified, and would like to race other DRIVERS, not have a battery contest.
But this late in the game, I don't know who is willing to change back TO GOING.
I'd like to go, but a 4 hour drive alone just isn't in the cards.

I'll be asking around to see if the guy's around here can be pursuaded to change their minds...

OK....I hear you guys......ONE guy asked if he could run the cells......We dont have them......I have not seen any yet.......I thought it would help this one guy out. I never thought it would twist this many panties. We are currently using 3300 and the IB3600's at our track.....if you ask me the 3600's suck.....

you know terry, there are always guys that will say they are coming to race, and will use any excuse to back out. this should be a non issue.

u guyz r funny! 3700's not any better! hahahahahahahahahah

oh man!

but seriously ur just kidding right?
u had me going for a minute there

JeffPatch29

well look at it this way, 3700's have been out for some time now, and not many people are running them, even at the clubs who allow them, if they were so much better, don't you think more people would be running them?

Tommygun43
03-24-2005, 02:33 PM
I just find it tough to believe....1200mah....1400.....1700...2000....2400 ...3000...3300...better better better...3700...WORSE

I'm not buying it.

A reputable battery matcher told me "if they are allowing 3700's don't bother going".

When I disagree with a tracks rules I normally voice my opinion by not attending. But after hearing over and over again how no one showed up because of a rule, it gets frusturating.

I realize changes are too late now anyways, I really wish u the best of luck, I hope there is a good turn out.

Wish everyone would have just stayed with 3300's until next year like ROAR...For races only allowing 3300's, have already heard reputable matchers are taking GP3300 labels and putting them overtop of 3600 and 3700 packs to make em look legal for their Team Drivers. Yikes

They are better.....RUNTIME. They won't effect a stock or 19T race that is ONLY 4 MINUTES long.

unreal.

pancartom - you hit the nail on the head.

And to Everyone else who has "decided not to come due to the 37's being legal" - I encourage you to go out and buy some 37's and come enter in 12th stock. I will thoroughly enjoy going by you with my packs that I've had since October.

To Everyone that will be there tomorrow - I'm looking forward to seeing y'all. You guys put on a great show and I always enjoy myself when I go out to Fountain (even if my "inferior equipment" keeps me in the C main).

peace,
john

All I know is this, the last time I was up at fountain, Pete, Myself, and Zig couldn't dump a pack of 3300's. I think Pete finished 2-3 tenths off where he started, and finished strong. So since runtime isn't even an issue in modified, why would it make a difference in any other Class? I could see on a banked track where the loads are higher them making a difference, because you probably could dump a pack of 3300's, but Tom hit it on the head it should be a non issue. I agreed with Ziggy to limit it to 3300's just so that out of towners wouldn't have 1 more excuse not to come.

I dont think it's a matter of whats legal or not...3300-3700, it's that nobody likes to race at a disadvantage..If 3700 were'nt a better that why would they have made them.My only beef is that rules should be set early or follow Roar rules like everyone else in the country..My best pack of 3700 are 385 @ 4.74 done at 35 amps vs. my best 3300 at 370@4.69 so there is a difference believe it or not..

My best 3300's packs are around the same, and I'm not a chassis wiz so I NEED the battery to race modified:p .

Maybe next time.
I wasn't looking for excuses, I wanted to come race, some of the best in the Nation race there, and I hear it's a great facility, but maybe next time.

LOL, not yet, the payrol is a bit tight lately .
Were all waiting for mid-april when the IB 3800 is released. It'll be head and shoulders above the rest.

Joe is was great to meet you as well. I was actually trying my 19 turn car in modified for the main, but some things broke in the 19 turn main I just didn't have enough time to fix since I was running back to back. I was trying some new tires this weekend and it wasn't a good time to try them, as you can see by the bad luck I was having. I had a great time as I always do running with those guys, they put on a great show. You planning on going to the regionals in Pittsburgh?
