sheath 01-05-2005, 01:59 PM A fresh start for the new year, and a fresh thread to go with it.
Summit R/C Raceway is planning for this summer offroad season, and a schedule for the summer will be coming out soon. Watch here, or on our website at
http://summitrcraceway.com
Voodoo 01-12-2005, 02:03 AM Looking forward to some outdoor offroad, Had a great time last year.
Can someone post the last, best Setup for an RC10B4...Please!!!
Voodoo...
Voodoo........I had good success with Easton's world setup. Biggest trick was finding the best rear tire when track became a little dusty. Red bigshots were usually the tire of choice. Summit is planning a great season so hope everybody can make it out.
cory30 01-13-2005, 08:44 PM Nate,
Good luck this weekend, hope you do well!
sheath 01-17-2005, 11:50 AM Congrats to Nathan Bauer for finishing 4th in the B-main of the 4WD Mod class at the Winter Midwest Championships in Columbus,OH. Check the results here.....
http://www.crcrc.com/results/20042005/2005MIDWESTMOD.htm
and take a look at some of the other names in the A and B mains. This was a quality 38 car field of 4WD Mod drivers.
I'm already tracking down new parts for my 4WD to run this summer... just need to get my driver some track time!
Good job Nate!
wallyworld 01-17-2005, 06:00 PM Way to go Nate. Another 3 months and we'll be havin fun in the dirt here to.:p Can't wait.
cory30 01-17-2005, 06:36 PM Nathan,
Give me a ring. Congratulatoins, you must have ran the losi.
cory30 01-17-2005, 07:31 PM Voodoo,
You going to make it up for a few races this year? We have a few more loads of dirt this year. It's going to be a great race season.
Thanks guys! After two qualifiers I decided to get help from Travis Amezcua and then the car started to come around. I wish I had a little more time with that setup and found a little more rear traction before the main. The track dried out big time and my car was very loose. Columbus is definitely a race to experience once. If the intense competition doesn't get you the cold temperature will! Although racers claim this year's event was warmer than past it was still cold to me.
sheath.......Your XX-4 was hooked up the last couple races at Summit last year so I'm looking forward running with ya.
wallyword......Outdoor racing is definitely my favorite. Hurry up May!
cory30 01-25-2005, 08:39 PM Nate,
I am jumping into 4wheel head first ! Hopefully we can get at least a full heat. I can't wait to go fast and break stuff .
Cory,
Voodoo 01-26-2005, 06:36 AM Are there any tentative dates for Outdoor Off-Road opening day?
Barron: Are you guys still doing Grafix?
Voodoo...
sheath 01-27-2005, 02:48 PM First Saturday in May would probably be the first offroad race, as long as Mother Nature cooperates.
Papamerkle 01-27-2005, 07:20 PM What's a good front/rear tire combo for a truck?
Any plans to run mod truck this year?
ovalrookie 01-27-2005, 08:49 PM i got some bad news for you guys ....lol i got a 4wd ....nate, cory, and scott look out !!!! not for me but parts flying out lol

airborn 01-27-2005, 10:40 PM well lets see Cory, Nate, Scott, Keven. Maybe i might have to get mine out of the case this year.

scorgon 01-30-2005, 03:42 AM my bad you know what racing oval does to a persons brain ...lol always thinking left ...left...left...
It won't be long before it will be left, left, right, jump....crash at least for me...:p
cory30 01-30-2005, 10:29 AM Papamerkle,
Red ifmars, silver directionals and yes we could have some mod truck. We did last year.
Seth,
Get that 4-wheel tuned up,and I see you now have a mf2.Tracey said you would be interested in taking a trip to the Planet sometime soon.
Does anyone know if G-DRIP (jason l) is going to race off-road this year?
Voodoo 01-30-2005, 12:50 PM http://www.rc10b4.com/gallery/data/500/978Stitched_layout_jan_05-med.jpg
If you want to come down to Planet now is the time. New layout is in, only one week of practice on it for all the local boys.
Pink slicks or highly dremeled tapers on the rear. Highly dremeled Pink 2 or 3 ribs on front. Soft spring setup w/ 30wt to 35wt oil.
Summit: W/ B4 buggy I used Red x-2000 rear and Silver 3 ribs on frt.
That's what I use on the track in My back yard Red Big shots worked also but felt the x's had a little more forward bite.
I really like your Guys track up there conditions are just like My back yard but with better jumps and much bigger of course.
I had so much fun trading positions with Cory R. every lap When I was up there You can count on seeing me up there alot this coming year.
Voodoo...
cory30 01-30-2005, 02:37 PM Voodo,
Track looks great,I would like make it down a couple more times this winter.I have not raced at all since winterfest.Been very busy at work.
Cory R.
airborn 01-31-2005, 05:45 PM Cory,
Yes I do want to make a date for Indy. I know a few guys that would want to go as well. I am thinking some sat in february. I will race the MF2 and bring the xxx-4 for fun. I think the hole trip for me would be even better if you, nate, and maybe john & austin went but I know that might be hard to cordinate.
seth
ovalrookie 01-31-2005, 08:57 PM nate.....i need to pick your brain .....what do i need for a good starting point for the xxx-4 ....any parts that need to be alum..do you run the car with overdrive or underdrive ,,,one way in the front ...tires for the front ...kevin
cory30 01-31-2005, 10:03 PM Seth,
I will go and I know Nate is going to race down there a few more times but I don't know when he is planning to go.I don't know about Barron's, I think Austin still has basketball.I'll call them.
Kevin,
You got that car together yet? Is Jason going to race this summer?
Planet layout definitely looks good. A little bit of everything. Cory, Seth, I plan to race at Planet on Feb 12th. If we're all down there at the same time that would be cool. I'll be running 2w stock (maybe mod) and 4w mod.
Kevin.....Since you have the graphite kit, I think the only necessary investments would be front aluminum innver pivots, and aluminum 7.5 deg caster block. Maybe a 10 deg mount too.
Voodoo...Good to hear. Pass the word around to fellow Planeteers for this summer!
Kevin.....I personally haven't experimented with overdrive or underdrive. Problem is it is not a quick tuning option unless you have a spare diff. For Summit I plan to run the standard front diff unless the track is tight and full of hairpins. I liked the holeshots last year for the front as they are pretty aggressive but others work okay.
Voodoo 02-01-2005, 04:45 AM While we are on the subject of Planet R/C. We were just Informed this past saturday they are planning a trophy race the second weekend of march.
This Will be the First annual March Madness Race. It will be a one day event. I'd imagine there will be trophys For all positions in A-Mains and top three in all others thats usually what they do, Don't quote me on that...lol
Not sure what the entry fee will be yet look to Planet website (http://www.planetrcraceway.com/newindex2.asp?ID=1) for updates.

Voodoo...
Jason L 02-04-2005, 07:33 PM hey cory,
I will run some off road this year. But sounds like every body is running a truck or a four wheel drive. But if enough 2wd buggy's show i will be interested. i'll have to get some six cells. other than that i think my worn out buggy will do. lol I don't know if i can remember how to jump any more, or turn right, but i'll give it my best shot! sounds like fun.
cory30 02-04-2005, 10:18 PM jason,
I never said I wouldn't run buggy,I would if I knew you were racing.Your fun to race with,so I better see you there this spring.NO EXCUSES!
Talk to you later Jason,
Cory
scorgon 02-05-2005, 01:05 PM hey cory,

I might even shake off the dust on my B3 and defend it's title....:p
ovalrookie 02-06-2005, 01:23 AM jon .....do we have to keep hearing that same old story ......lol you need to get a new one like ...one the last lap i jumped the entire field in the triples and won the a main in truck finally ......but it is better than my luck be the b-main king ...just think days like today make you think about working on them for summer .......
or you can race us 4wd guys with that 18t you had at the oval race .....
kevin
scorgon 02-06-2005, 04:38 AM Maybe I can make a new story to tell this year, but you have to admit it is a good one. I have been often told that last in the "A" is still better than first in the "B", but you have to admit it is nice dominating the field in the "B". You just have to forget that there are other guys faster than you.
The 18t will probably be as close to a 4wheel that I can get for associated unless I get a bj4 than that would be closer. I have been looking at Losi's but the sponser money is the same $0, but Tech support is a little better with Losi.
redbaron 02-14-2005, 10:28 PM I'm ready to do some track building.
I think we will ahve a really good season.
anyone perfer to have the straight-away on the back side? or the front?
We hope to improve the drainage this year.....it's been good in the past but we can make it better.
Any suggestions on a layout?
sheath 02-17-2005, 12:22 PM I liked the straight on the back of the layout, but the location of the timing and scoring loop is something that must be taken into account. I guess it doesn't have to be located on a straight, but when using IFMAR starts there should be enough room for the trucks and buggies to get up and running before crossing the line to start their clocks.
I like the way in the past few layouts that we have avoided a track full of 180 degree turns connected by straights, and mixed up the types of turns.
bigfredzzz 02-20-2005, 09:58 AM hey you guys at summit going to have the clod race this year if so what is the date thanks
ovalrookie 02-22-2005, 04:31 PM i think we need to put a few big jumps and elevation changes ...if we have triples i would like them to be closer to the driver stand then you will know if you can make it or double ...single it ....but then i dont care as long as it dont rain all year .......just my 2 cents
wallyworld 02-26-2005, 07:59 AM hey cory,

Hey! Isn't that what you said last year right before you went out and and whupped on a bunch of us.
Jason L 02-27-2005, 02:29 PM Hey Dale,
I think that i did say something like that. But running oval all winter prob. screwed up my driving ability. I'll have to get back in to the grove. But anyways its not about winning or losing. its all about haveing fun with the guys that i haven't raced with for a long time.
I talked to John B. last night at the track and he said something about running mod. I'm up for it. Any body else wanting to run some mod buggy.
And Jon Henderson go ahead man make my day. bring on the b3, I would like that rematch.lol that was a good one. A win is a win.
wallyworld 03-02-2005, 10:23 AM Got me an MT2 for mod truck this year. I'll be ready for some high flyin action this summer for sure. We will be posting info for the off-road track soon. Once again Nathon's heading up the off-road track and after meeting last friday with him, the Barons, and Cory things look real good for this season. Will be talking to Seth this week and hopefully start posting some of our plans next week here on the forum.
1armed1 03-13-2005, 06:53 PM What kind of tires work om 2whl mod and 4whl?What day of the weekend and time do you guys race?
2w mod - red bigshots work the best, followed by red x-2000, sometimes red ifmar pin
4w mod - holeshots all the way around usually works. Sometimes I will use red bigshots in the rear.
Racing is on Saturday and start time is tentatively scheduled to be 1:00 PM.
ovalrookie 03-18-2005, 08:08 PM boy this weather is teasing us......it get nice out then it snows ......i want to go do some right turns and get some big air ......
scorgon 03-20-2005, 05:58 PM And Jon Henderson go ahead man make my day. bring on the b3, I would like that rematch.lol that was a good one. A win is a win.
I am now the owner of a B4, I had to take it off of Barrons hands to keep him away from the Associated cars. A Barron driving an Associated just isn't right..:)
cory30 03-20-2005, 10:16 PM Kevin,
Come down to the planet,Were going every weekend till we can run outside. It's a awesome layout.
Who is starting the track in Fremont?
cory30........How did you guy's do? Wish I could have made it. Had to work Sat. and now I caught the flu or something. If I'm up for it, might be able to race this next weekend.
cory30 03-21-2005, 07:02 PM Nate,
John and Austin made the A in 2 wheel mod and finished 7th and eighth I think.I made the B in 2 wheel mod and I won,but their was only 2 people in the B so my odds was pretty good.I am going this weekend,I'm on a mission to figure out this 2wheel mod thing.I think Barron's are going also. The track is awesome,
Cory,
airborn 03-22-2005, 06:41 PM Yeah I would like to know if a new track is planned for fremont as well.
