No fear. Run 'em 'til they turn black.

The yellowing is probably due to UV radiation. If you have an extra white tire try placing it on a windowsill in direct sunlight and see what happens. Try keeping the tires away from the reach of sunlight. On cars that aren't run you may try using Armor All or a rubber protectant designed to block UV. If you store them in a clear acrylic case consider applying a UV blocking film to the front of the case. Perhaps soaking them in tooth whitening toothpaste would bleach them back to white? Experiment a little.

Is there a source for original style replacement white tires? If you run 'em you are bound to loose a few and wear out a few. The white rims look odd with black tires.

Dave's HO Raceway sells white silicones for the rear. I may have found a source for the white front tires too, but they have a flat rate for shipping ($5 or something like that). I just can't see paying $5 to ship a little package of silicone tires, so I'll wait until I can come up with a list of stuff to justify paying the shipping.

I don't know why, I can't help it, maybe due to sickness, strange upbringing, too many alien abductions, too much glue together model building, too much red oil osmosis through the skin, or whatever, but these are the images pop into my head that I just can't seem shake whenever I see a "white thunder" slot car:

Whew! Only after replacing the white tires with black tires does everything return to normal to me. Put away the Barbie Bike, this is the "white wheel and black tire" image that I see when order is restored to normal....
