I need help fast its for my school engine. whats the easiest way to coil it up and get it back it?? bugman 01-04-2005, 07:37 PM coil it up by hand a pop it in without it uncoiling. i've done a many of them. it's quite simple but a pain in the rear if not done right. roperdude91 01-04-2005, 07:58 PM haha yup do it by hand, works fine, just put it in the right way or it doesnt work, i did that a few times roperdude91 01-04-2005, 08:04 PM o ya haha how old r u? lol reason im askin is cuz im only 13, ask bug i pretty much know what im talkin about scrench 01-04-2005, 08:43 PM what engine is it ? it might have a hole in the housing that makes it easy bugman 01-04-2005, 09:08 PM yeah the old ones had that hole but were something to get them in right. especially those alluminum rewinds. scrench 01-05-2005, 03:22 AM i always run the spring through the hole ,hook it in the pully , bend the tabs over , then wind the spring ,and use a pair of needle hose piers to put the end of the spring in the housing ,, then throw the rope in it ....... bugman 01-05-2005, 03:43 AM huh sounds like a plan. oh yeah i've got one of those real oldys. darn alluminum and steel rewind. if your not careful with those you'll cut a finger if it catches right. just might be a newer one. the newer ones are well very much easier. ooooh even had one uncoil and sling right into my face. man that hurt. they can be a pain though if your not careful and i mean a pain. bbnissan 01-05-2005, 09:19 AM i always run the spring through the hole ,hook it in the pully , bend the tabs over , then wind the spring ,and use a pair of needle hose piers to put the end of the spring in the housing ,, then throw the rope in it ....... This is definately the way to go on a Briggs & Stratton recoil. It's the easiest and quickest method, and it's also the method recommended by B&S. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
