Republic Cruiser

This is the Randy Cooper kit. Did I mention I hate masking?

Aaaaaand about a hundred masked-off panels later, she’s good to go.

I know Episode One doesn’t get a lot of love in some quarters, but I dig the design work. This ship was inspired by one of Joe Johnston’s original “Pirate Ship” concepts from `75, and has the unique distinction of being the first spacecraft to appear in the SW saga.

Despite all the masking, this was a fun one to build. A friend was busting my chops recently, saying I always build “clean, shiny, un-weathered” spaceships. Doesn’t get much more weathered than this! And I installed lights to boot!

Man, that's a beauty! And I agree about the design work on Ep1. I'm an original old school ancient Star Wars fan and I love that movie.

Beautiful work! Proportional, 3-little-bears weathering: not too much, not too little; just right! Paint is applied pefectly thinly so it doesn't build up and bury the detail! Impressive!
