Hello, fellow enthusiasts!
Just a quick note of introduction: I'm Patrick Strong, and in the interest of full disclosure, I'm the owner of Model Citizen Diecast, a dealer of 1:18- and 1:43-scale cars. I'm not here to give sales pitches*, however, but rather just to hang out and chat about diecast models. Yeah, it's networking, but I'm in the business because I have been collecting diecast for over thirty years, and because I love it! I'm eager to share my insights, but I'm even more eager to learn from yours.
The short version of my biography as a model collector: like many, I started out as a kid with Matchbox & Hot Wheels. When I was five, I got my first taste of larger scale cars when I got my first 1:36 Corgi (a Jaguar XJ-S). A few years later, I followed that up with my first 1:18 (Bburago Ferrari 250GTO) and 1:43 (Box Models Ferrari 250GT TdF) models, and an obsession was born. My taste runs toward '50s-80s sports racers, road sports cars and GTs, particularly European and Japanese marques, but I do love American musclecars too! Besides larger scale cars, I've been a semi-serious 1:64-scale collector at times, and though I've pared my collection waaaaaay back lately, I still have some of my favorite pieces scattered around the house (thanks to a very patient Mrs. Strong!)
Looking forward to getting to know you guys!
*Moderators: I'm serious about this. However, perhaps we can talk about forum sponsorship?
