NASCAR's been a different sport since they let FORD run a car that was never produced as a two door. I still watch both though..... But "The Rolex 24" is now much closer to "THE stock car" race at Daytona; than what we have been watching NASCAR produce over the last couple of decades. As for "stock" car racing? The FIA requires a certain minimal quota of production cars have to be made available to the public before they can be raced as a LM GTE class. SCCA and IMSA all have "stock"car classes. That's about where "stock car racing" has gone. With that said, I'm still saddened as a "Chevy supporter" that Stewart / HASS chose FORD, this year, to embellish their nose work. As an ardent, old school, points, plugs and condenser, conventional aspiration, Chevy supporter; this moves several drivers down on my list as to who I'd like to see win a NASCAR Championship. Fortunately "JR." is back and still driving for Chevy. Hope he has a good season. Guess Johnson's even going to move up now too. Not sure of Stuart / HASS's reasoning in going to FORD. But one might be that FORD has had ties in international motor racing circles almost since its existence. HASS F-1 would surely reap some type of benefit from that knowledge, experience & ties. Oddly, I don't have that same undying loyalty for Chevy when it comes to international sports racing. Probably because Chevy never really supported international sports racing like FORD has through the years.Though, I'll still pull for Chevy if the two are pitted against one another in any competition.

If you're just getting into F-1 you'll enjoy it. For those of us that remember those screaming 12 cylinders disturbing the peace... F-1 ain't what it used to be either. But, to quote an old blues line, "You can't miss what you ain't never had." They say, this year, the engines are supposed to be louder. But I don't know if "louder" is going to make what F-1 has been running over the last two years sound any better. But Yeah..... I'm ready to see what happens this year in F-1. Hopefully it won't be a complete domination this season. Unless it is by HASS lol.

Didn't know he was still alive. The likes of Surtees, The Hills, Clark won't be seen again. Let alone builder, driver champions like Brabham, Gurney & Hall. The risks aren't the same. Salute !

1 week again!!!
can't wait for first qualification of the season.
i quite sad about manor can't join this year because mean less car you can see
poor mclaren, especially alonso, waste his last productive year in ... team
can i make this alonso become "good" person is hard than become bad person?
i guess if alonso call mercedes, he is already 1/2 way of 2017 world champion.

too early to tell if this season. if in normal(not rain)qualification 1-2 is not mercedes, than can assume other team could match mercedes.
bottas might be need more time to learn how the button in mercedes steering wheel work

well...well...it look like we will have another boring f1 season again
maybe first 3-4 round will be not 1-2 mercedes, but for sure 1st or 2nd position is hamilton!
maybe after 3-4 rounds, than bottas will complete 1-2 mercedes as usual for this boring season again.
i hope i am wrong.

hello all,
to all f1 fans, let make hobbytalk f1 2017 predictions game again!
until this f1 become "interesting" again, the game goal is to predict who
is taking spot of the 3rd in sunday race.

the chance 1st or 2nd spot goes to lewis or bottas is almost guarantee, even both of these driver start from the last of the grid!!!! 2016, lewis and nico have started from last grid, but managed to secure 2nd or 3rd position, amazing or unbelievable?

but the chance 3rd spot goes to is widely open to many drivers(hopefully to alonso too ).

to get more excited everyone can only predict 3 nomination for the 3rd finisher spot on sunday race.
example:
if you nominate
1. kimi
2. seb
3. valeri

and the 3rd spot goes to seb, you will get 18 point.
we follow like f1 point:
1st place - 25 points;
2nd -18;
3rd - 15;

dead line to submit the nomination is before the qualification time.
to get a better prediction, just wait until the 3rd practice end

so for this weekend australian gp, the dead line is saturday, march 25, 2am est (please adjust to your local time)

if you have any suggestion, please share, so this game can be more interesting.

well.... let start your engine!

Well I like the new designs. Wider and lower and faster. Though it's hard to see how they could have got much lower. I'm curious to see what this is going to make driving like on circuits such as Monaco and Baku City. They could hardly make it through that little zig zag in the old city part when they were narrower. Monaco has the potential of be either boring as hell or tearing up a butt load of cars. Having said that. Lets see.... For the Australian GP.....

I'm going with :

1. Ricciardo
2. Vettel
3. Verstappen
