hello all,
to all f1 fans, let make hobbytalk f1 predictions game!
until f1 become "interesting" again, the game goal is to predict who
is taking spot of the 3rd in sunday race.

the chance 1st or 2nd spot goes to lewis or nico is about above 50%
but the chance 3rd spot goes to is widely open to many drivers like
kimi, seb, valeri , daniel, max, sergio, etc(include lewis and nico too).

everyone can predict up to 5 nomination.
example:
if you nominate
1. kimi
2. seb
3. valeri
4. daniel
5. max

and the 3rd spot goes to max, you will get 10 point.
we follow like f1 point:
1st place - 25 points;
2nd -18;
3rd - 15;
4th -12;
5th - 10;

since i know just recently there is f1 thread in this forum, it is ok if we are not play since the 1st race.

dead line to submit the nomination is before the qualification time.

so for this weekend british gp, the dead line is july 8, 8am est (please adjust to your local time)

if you have any suggestion, please share, so this game can be more interesting.

well.... let start your engine!
my nomination are:

1. kimi
2. seb
3. daniel
4. nico
5. lewis

hungarian gp is on jul 24. and the deadline is just before the qualification session end. so look at practice 1 & 2, can help to guess. why so early to predict :)

anyway, good to have someone participate in this game.
gentle reminder, the game is to predict for the 3rd spot finisher.

Not aware of any team updates planned for Hungary and teams have already started working towards 2017. Silly season was pretty much stymied by Kimis re-signing with Ferrari. The primary barriers to over come will be equpment failure penalties. And with 5 drivers to choose from it is almost a lock to pic one for 3rd place!

if iam not wrong, the nearest gap between mercedes cars and 2nd fastest cars is 1 sec.
and it is already left 1 race before half of the season.
it is good decision for even a big team with a lot of money to develop 2017 cars that i hear almost totally different with previous year car spec.

I'm well out of this. Few of the names mean anything to me anymore, especially without the benefit of last names! I haven't followed F1 to any great extent since the great Ayrton Senna was killed in a wreck live on TV back in the 80's. I WAS pretty into it back in the 70's when Mario Andretti took the championship for Lotus in 1978.

Jim,

You should give it a try again. There is a new USA team called HAAS that is racing this year. They are not doing as well as earler, but for a new team - they are not back markers and have scored points several times this year. :thumbsup:

Here are the driver line ups for this year. Add Loise Hamilton to the 5 names above and pick your own 5 from those 6 - you cant lose if you just post your 5 names!

sebastian or kimi or daniel or max, for sure will get 3rd spot
so just pick 1 driver again.

I admit it: I'm a NASCAR fan and, as such, I am somewhat familiar with the Haas team. It's principal, Gene Hass (of Hass CNC Machine Tools), is the co-owner of the Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR team, the team he holds with Tony Stewart and fields cars for Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick, and Kurt Busch. Haas's involvement in F1 was widely discussed on the NASCAR broadcasts when it was in the earliest stages (before they ever built their first car), although they haven't really said much about it in the past year or two. Have they stayed true to their contention that they wanted to keep it an all-American team as much as possible with American drivers, designers, builders, crew, etc?

i quite follow about what Gene talk about f1 as he just started to this new world. if iam not wrong he said, f1 is totally different with nascar, where almost everything of it(cars, strategy, management, etc) much simplified than f1.
so if that true, and maybe you like most men that love car so much, f1 could interesting for you.
for me, i am not only interested of it's race, but about how the car technology develop form time to time.

and like other thread i mention about how nice f1 car look like developed from time to time :)

i hear usa try to bring f1 at las vegas. hopefully more f1 at usa, will make it popular and free broadcast in free air tv :D

No, they didnt. But, this was a series of good choices on their part; I believe. They allied themselves with Ferrari for engines. Dallaria for the chassis. Hired Guenther Steiner to be the team principle. They also bought the old Marrusa complex in England to use as their European point of operations. They do have a facility next to the NASCAR office in Kannapolis as their main headquarters. One drive is French and the other Mexican. There is an up and coming US driver on board for testing and eventually a seat when the current drivers move on who despite his name Santino Ferrucci is a US Citizen. With F1 being an international sport this business model has proven successful already with multiply points scored on debut and since then. This ensures a good financial basis to move forward on with the F1 revenue sharing program.

i really hope next 2017 will be other winner team than 'boring' mercedes petronas team.

or......rather than change regulation every year, i wish better change whole team every year.
so 2017 is all driver use same car mercedes petronas. 2018 ferrari, 2019 redbull, etc.
that's to know for sure who has driving skill :)

Just checking to make sure you know you are picking who is most likely to finish 3rd - not the finish order for the race. In other words you are picking Hamilton as your first choice to finish 3rd - scoring you 25 points, then Roseberg as your 2nd choice (18 points), then Riccardo (15 points) as your thrid choice...
