hello all,
i just wonder, since indy car look so popular at america, is it so few available in hot wheels die cast?
i found from here Category:Indy Cars | Hot Wheels Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia , only 8 model available. well actually 7, 1 is toon model
the latest is at multipack exclusive on 2016
is it too costly of license to make it as mainline in card?
There were a couple of Indy car series a few years ago.
I can't recall the years.
They weren't big sellers, I remember seeing them at 5 Below stores.
If you Google "Hot Wheels Indy Car Series", you should find something I bet.
Indy car popular in America? hmmm... thought it was more of a 'rest of the world' thing like soccer...
Found this on the internet...
"...Then there’s the fact that F1 just isn’t as popular in the US as it is everywhere else, which likely discourages young Americans from participating. Yes, F1 is in Austin and is being broadcast live on the NBC Sports network, but even the well-rated broadcasts are insignificant compared to the juggernaut that is NASCAR, for example."
Hot Wheels tried to do NASCAR for a while and it didn't work... maybe the same with Indy car models. I guess that's why all the posts of cars here are from older series that went away
Apart from the generic main lines cars by HWs I think it is more related to when the IZOD Indy racing league went away and the two leagues merged into one again with HWs also losing the marketing and distribution rights under the IZOD name.
F1s new owners are an American based media group (Liberty) so that USA feel to F1 and marketing windstorm cant be to far behind. It was really evident in Spain with the additional access and fan interactions in the broadcast.
Wiki says that one is based on the CART Indy Car Series. And it was first released as the No Fear Race Car. I have one of those somewhere - that I will post up when I find it again.
I went to the Indy Car race at Road America last year. The vendors were selling diecast cars made by Greenlight. They had all the teams available in 1/64 and 1/24 scales.
I go to Road America several times a year. Really like the vintage car races.
Was at Road America yesterday for the first two Indy Car practice sessions for Sunday's race. I checked the prices for the diecast cars. The 1/64 were $9 and the 1/18 were $65 to $70. They are the same price on the web site
so.. did you buy some? share the photos please :grin2:
if that is f1 diea cast for 1/64 at $9, i will buy it :grin2:
