hello all,
to someone that frequent use brickseek to get a hotwheel, can share how accurate this site?
it could be a saver for many people's gas and time :grin2:
like me, mostly it is only because i want to get hotwheel i go to walmart.
because for weekly grocery shoping, walmart is not my first choice.
It's worked for me twice now for the big shippers. I'm assuming you are asking because you are still seeing FF cars are out of stock in your area. You have to remember that when stuff first comes out and it's not yet shipped to a store and you look for it on brickseeker....It will show it's out of stock in RED....Once it's in stock back room or floor..The indicator turns GREENA maybe not right away. Same if something gets sold, the numbers don't always change right away.
Now here is the bad part. When the item sells out it once again turns red. The thing with using it for Hot Wheels ESPECIALLY on Walmart Exclusives, is that if you haven't looked in several hours the item may have came in the and the indicator turned green. A reseller sees it, runs to the store and buys it all up. The indicator turns red again...And you look after he buys it all and it still says out of stock. So you may not realize it did come in but sold out just as fast. That's the only thing that can make it inaccurate for the user. The other thing of course is glitches in the system and the numbers may take a bit of time to reflect what they have in the store. It's worked for me twice now. So I would say it's pretty accurate as long as you stay on top of it. It you miss the window between shipment and sell out you may never realize they got in.
All in all its an excellent tool to use. It's what the resellers use in addition to visiting stores every night to get the drop on all of us.lol
Another issue is getting the UPC number OR SKU. I was able to get it from an image online someone did of the back of the card. I zoomed it..bingo....Got the number. So you have to have it. Usually the West coast gets stuff before east so you have to hope they will share the UPC/SKU with you.
I don't know. It is definitely not the be all, end all answer. May depend on helpful employees too.
I looked up a Walmart in my area, and specifically went to one because it said it had the inventory, in stock, in green, and a significant number too.
When I got there, this pic is what I found. No employee could help to say they had any more, or not, or even if they would bring any out, or get any more.
I bought some at my Walmart. Inventory didn't reflect what I bought right away. It's a helpful tool but you pretty much have to get to the store when a full bin appears on brickseek. You can set it up to email you but I find that checking every couple hours has worked for me the last two times. Not 100% fullproof but way better than going at any random time at stores and find nothing.
Yeah those numbers are how many individual cars are left. I wouldn't go to the one with 24 cars. By the time you get there they many be gone or the variety won't be there. Even the 160 left at the other store may be missing a car or two. When I went to my Walmart there were 585 left and all except 4 of the road runner were left But there were definitely close to 600 cars left. I went through them all to find the road runners. But with any inventory system it's not 100%. I also wouldn't drive more than 15 miles or so to get these when the numbers are than low. Don't drive to far only to be disappointed.
It worked for me last week at Target. Because when I got there. There was a brand new hotwheels shipper there and I got lucky. I got a whole bunch of new hotwheels, the Target exclusive red edition car's, a couple of regular treasure Hunt's hw pursuits, a super treasure hunt 1967 Chevy C10 pickup truck, the entertainment halo car's, and some new hotwheels for my Friend's.
i guess in past 1-2 weeks, this website is full of traffic.
my office have block brickseek for whatever reason, but not the alternative zoolert.com
keep hunting
We should have a regular thread to help people locate stuff with Brickseek in their area.
Another thing that's worth mentioning is that the numbers can be off due to large amount bought and the buyers not being honest about what they have in their buggy. I bought a bunch with the second series. Like 50 dollars worth. The cashier trusted me on how many were in my buggy. They don't always have you count a large amount right there at the register. So I could definitely see a few buyers giving the cashier a lower number than what's in the buggy....
Stores around here are sucking bad. "Hot Wheels Month" is almost over and the numbers haven't budged for most of them (aside from going down in some cases)
I'm so frustrated lately that I need to repeat myself. I posted this in another thread, so you know... please understand the sadness (lol)...:
What are the odds... please someone let me know that this has not happened to me only... went to a local Wally and one of the managers was very kind and went to a warehouse they have across the street to bring me 5 Hot Wheels C case boxes, brand new, unopened, with the seal and everything. 360 cars total... the manager did this even when the pegs are full... guess what? not a single Super... what are the odds... I've been here in the are where I live for about 10 months now.. I regularly hunt at 2 targets, 6 Wally's, 3 Market Wally's, 3 Dollar Generals, 4 Dollar Trees and 2 Family Dollars, besides a few other small local stores that bring HW. I developed a good tracking system on knowing when new shipments come in depending on the day of the week or the month, etc.. and haven't found a single Super yet.. what are the odds...
With that said, yes, we need to help each other. Once I get more UPC's or SKU's I'll post them... I'm not a scalper. I only buy one to keep close and one to open, and maybe 2 more for my 2 kids if the car is absolutely awesome for me... I'll be posting some ideas on how to prepare a good store visit schedule to avoid wasting time, but as I mentioned above, its a matter of being blessed that day with a good find...
I've never heard of a Wal-Mart with a warehouse across the street from it, unless it is a distribution center, but there is a first time for everything..
As for not finding a $uper, if you've collected for any length of time, not every case has a $uper in it.
I've been collecting for a while now.. considering myself a senior on this... however, never been thru such a drought.. specially among so many stores around...
I believe the UPC's are different for different cases, but still bring the total HW in hand of any store. Lets say the UPC correspond to 2016 P case (just an example) and the store has 50 of those, but has 50 of 2017 A case, 50 of B case and 50 of C case. When you input the UPC you will se that the store has 200 HW total. If you would have used the UPC corresponding to either A, B or C case it would have still showed 200. But don't quote me on that, and check all the UPC's just in case. Also, as someone said in an earlier post, the totals you see in brickseek not necessarily are the ones in the peg. They might include the ones they have in the backroom/warehouse, etc. I believe the trick is to be monitoring it constantly and once you see a big jump in quantity that means a dump bin came in and is to be put out soon. I always try to find an employee and have them check any HW bar code with their handheld scanner and give me the "in-transit", "in-hand" and "in back room" or warehouse quantities and I get a better idea when to go back to the store. Remember to be polite and nice to the employees, cause that's extra work for them... especially if they agree to go to the backroom to bring more merchandise for you!
Thank you for the information that helps a lot. I have noticed that if you enter a UPC from a certain case it just brings up a a generic Hot Wheels mainline UPC and gives a total.
You are right about the totals. I have been to a couple that say they have a couple hundred in stock and you go there just to find a dozen or so on the floor. Makes me wonder where the others are at and if they are waiting on the floor to sell and get down to a certain quantity before they replenish the stock.
Unfortunately the times I have asked for more they just tell me what I see is what there is, that's if you can find someone to begin with.
If the cars were already dumped in the bin, it's not fresh. Fresh is when they take the cardboard wrapping off it, open the top and open all nine boxes right before your eyes or one is able to pallet raid it themselves. If. Collector gets there before each individual box is opened and opens them himself, he can easily get any supers if they are there within minutes. Of course there may not be any supers within the entire 648 count vin.....Here's one of the funniest bin raids I have see it's not a dump bin but a four sides shipper so the cars don't get shipped In 72 count boxes he found like 5 supers......
I just went to a Target because Brickseek says that particular Target has 250+ HW's.. I remember going there a few days ago and there were not that many in the pegs. Anyway, I decided to count the ones I saw today in the pegs and there were about 160. So I thought to myself that some fishy was going on and decided to ask a manager that had a handheld by coincidence walking thru the Toy Department. She checked, and sure enough she said "we have a bunch in the back, do you want me to bring them out for you?" There weren't that many, but it was one of those standing displays, magenta color by the way due to Easter... it was a G case with the Red Edition ones, no super but I grabbed 4 of each (one to keep close, one to open and one for each of my 2 kids), plus a regular C10 and 2 other... the point being, Brickseek works and the difference of what the website shows and what's in the floor might be somewhere hidden in the back... however, it wasn't fresh and I had been picked thru already.... I was just blessed of finding the Red Edition ones still there...
To everyone who has been looking for the Red Series, look in the Easter section as well.
My local Target had received two shippers in.
One was put in the Hot Wheels section, the other was in the Easter section.
No it is accurate. Trust me. Not all the stores got a bin. That 144 is two 72 count cases. They just haven't put them out yet...You should have asked for someone to look in back.
I would like say thanks to Dar that give a "tool" to find a hotwheels.
this morning i went to walmart and got all ff cars but i only buy 6 of them. it is not fresh bin nor dedicated bin, but in hotwheels month bin and mix with it.
i hope everyone can use this brickseek.com to find new hotwheels.
Glad you found them. I knew it would happen.lol That store didn't I get the bin so they dumped them in the 2017 bin. Happened at a couple stores near me. Yeah brickseek is a great tool especially for exclusives. Walmart Exclusives are probably the most heavily hoarded/scalped hot wheels. Probably due to the exclusiveness, ease of hoarding and popularity among collectors. The FF cars seem to be the most hoarded/scalped of the yearly exclusives.
I think it's a good idea to start a thread like this for future exclusives so everyone can help each other out and not pay such high aftermarket prices.
The prices have really dropped on eBay for this set. I. Think this one may be the most produced so far. I have seen several case restocks of them here. The seller that hoarded them here back in November did it again. He bought two and a half bins. He started his price out over 30 bucks plus shipping. He dropped it twice. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/282401614155
Sold 61 out of 200 sets in two weeks. Last time he burned through them within a week at a much higher price. I'm also wondering if this set just isn't as desirable as the last set.
You are in my area. The stores near Westland got scalped quickly. Canton and Livonia have one or two guys that buy the entire shippers. As for the numbers being messed up I can only assume that some got under charged buying large quantities or there are still a couple case in back. I had a friend who found some at the Michigan Ave store and they only got two cases in. Did you ask the clerks?
I just checked our area again Pablo. It's getting really sparse now. I forgot to mention that some stores put leftovers into the Easter toy displays and I even saw a few at Woodhaven in an center aisle display for the Mattel 55 scale FF cars. So that could also explain the stores that have under a case left and you can't find them. The 7 mile store seems to be your best bet.
They must have two cases in back somewhere. I don't go to the Seven Mile store so I don't know how they are there with stocking conditions. Look if you don't want to look anymore I can give you some. I have a few sets left from looking for two collector friends. They took what they wanted. I will either give them to my nephew and the rest for Halloween. The only two I really wanted were the Supra and roadrunner. Found more road runners last week. The road runners were all scalped from the Dearborn store except for a few when I initially looked.
Even more maddening to see that a Target in Maryland has over 1600 cars in stock yet several here in central PA are down below 100. Either BS is wrong or there's a serious distribution problem.
