Brisbrd's Japanese Car Obsession

As you may remember, I traveled to Japan a few months back and since then I have been focusing my collection on Japanese cars. I figured I would post some of my recent purchases for those around here to pass the time.
I'm also excited because I'll be heading back to Japan next year. And that means I will be broke when I get back to the states.

Here are the most recent:

1:18 Kyosho Nissan Skyline KPGC10 GT-R

1:43 Kyosho Nissan.. you get the idea

Those Skylines remind me of the Datsun 510s.
Are they related? same platform perhalps???

Love the blue pick up truck!!!!

I seem to be heading in the opposite direction. I really think 43rd hits the sweet spot of detail and space requirements. Of course, that does not mean I have the space regardless. 18th scales are just for special occasions, like when you realize that no matter how bad you want the real thing, you'll never be able to afford it.

The Skyline and 510 have a family resemblance in the same way the Altima and Sentra do now. That, plus most small cars in the 70s, Japanese especially, looked like they were designed using only straightedges.

I decided to do the Kyosho Skylines a little more justice.

I also forgot I had gotten an IDx US Nismo version.

Awesome! I have just got around to finally adding some of the Kyosho Skylines with Calsonic livery to my collection, as well as picking up a non-liveried Nissan Skyline GT-R R34. On my wish list (as opposed to bucket list?) -- to experience driving the real deal! For now, I simply enjoy looking at the 1:64 version and daydreaming

So I placed a bid completely expecting to be outbid since I had to go to bed before the end of the auction. Somehow, someone bid just below my max and I got it.
I actually expected it to be green and was pleasantly surprised to find out it is blue.

The 1:18 Kyosho Nissan Skyline GT-R 2000 looks fabulous! Detail is so so very nice. Every time I see these larger diecasts I think i should move up from 1:64, but I need to stay put -- I believe I would go broke, lol!

I really like the lines of the Nissan Skyline GT-R 2000. About a month ago, I finally got my hands on the Kyosho 1/64 blue and green versions. The overall shape of the car kind of reminds me of the AMC Javelin AMX muscle cars/Trans Am racers back in the 70's.

Love the model and the engine detail. I am on the same boat as you Porschephile911, I am always tempted to start collecting 1/43 and 1/18 models when I see pictures like this but then realize I would not have enough room or money! Need to stick with 1/64 models

I don't remember why exactly I decided to check out Mandarake's website on Monday, but here we are.

Amazingly, I ordered Monday afternoon (early morning Tuesday their time) and the invoice date was for Tuesday and DHL attempted to deliver on Thursday. That's friggen fast!

Ebbro '83 Skyline RS Turbo Coupe

Minichamps BMW E30 M3
(this is my first Minichamps model - not a Japanese car, I know)

HPI Racing Skyline R32 GT-R

Does anyone know why these holes would be here? Anyone have one with them? I see some on eBay with and without.
