New Castings?!?

I seem to remember reading early this year or late last year that there were going to be 3 or 4 ALL NEW castings for 2017. Has anybody heard any info or rumors?!? There have been some cool cars so far (some of my favorites were the pale yellow 69 Kingswood Wagon, maroon 69 Cougar and upcoming 65 Barracuda color stripe car), but I'm chomping at the bit for some NEW castings! OR, at least some info as to what might be!

I got my basic set from AW. 5 of the cars say new tooling. Only the 87 Camaro didn't have any changes. I looked at the SVO and El Camino. The Cougar I could easily see was a 69 instead of a 70. The SVO was harder to tell at first but it has flush headlights instead of recessed ones like on the 84. The El Camino has quite a bit of changes to the grill, tailgate, and side window. Don't know if any of that constitues a new casting but I like the effort.

I hope that isn't what they meant by NEW CASTINGS! I was hoping for ALL NEW castings, not re-workings of existing castings to just represent a different year.

After looking at your post again I don't think that is what they meant. You mentioned 4 new castings. These revised tools are 5 so numbers are already different.

I think it's universally recognized by the entire hobby community, from collectors to the brands themselves, that if you claim 'new casting' it's going to be new all around. Anything else is revised.

But as for the '69 Kingswood, which is a favorite of mine as well (in that golden beige), secondary market values would strongly suggest that AW should release that baby some more!
