Need help with Milton Bradley's Electronic Star Bird!
I have this wonderful toy from the late seventies, and it works great except that one of the LED's is much fainter than the other.
I've done some basic soldering, and I thought that I could fix it. I went to my local electronics shop with this circuit board and purchased some LED's which the clerk selected for me.
However, after carefully removing the original and putting in a new one, and powering up, the LED's failed to light at all. The circuit still functioned with light and sound, but no lights. I removed the new LED and replaced the original, and the lights functioned again.
Clearly, the new ones I purchased were not the right kind. I'm assuming it's voltage or amperage issue of some kind, which goes to show how much I know about electronics!
Anyway, how can I determine the correct kind of LED to use? Is it possible to determine from these pictures, or would further testing on my part be necessary? If so, what would that testing involve?
Many thanks for your advice!
BTW, I would have been happy to provide links to pictures on Imgur, but this is my first post. Don't know if I'll ever make it to five. How can I offer interested parties the links?
