Pots .........

Hello People ...

I have this Bearcat Scanner that I bought in the Mid-80's, and just replaced the battery pack. I Haven't used this scanner for Years, and things tend to stop working. The problem that I am having is a Dirty POT !
The Volume control has NO-Control. I mean the vol. is just faint. I did remove the back to see if I could get at the pot. Well, Its accessible, But how do I get the "Spray Contact Cleaner" INSIDE the Unit/Pot? The Best I could do
was to spray the outside casing where there are some Very Small Holes,
and I think some of the cleaner went inside. I then rotated the Pot 30 to 40 times back and forth to work it in .........
The Result is: the Volume did increase at only one spot/position. However, there is NO-in-between or gradual increase/decrease in Volume.
JUST, HI AND LOW-SETTINGS.

The Bearcat Scanner Model is ~ * BC100 xlt *

Hopefully, Someone on this Forum can give me a few Ideas,
as to how I can get the spray-cleaner ~ effectively inside the POT.

Thank-You All, For your Ideas and suggestions .....

Sincerely, Nitrojc.

I'm going to take a wild guess at this. If it's wrong, Sorry I wasted your time.

First off, see if the knob comes off easily. There may be more holes on that side of the pot to get the cleaner inside.

Secondly, the pot may function in the opposite direction than you think. Pushing on the knob while doing the back and forth thing may be doing the least bit of good, and you might want to pull on it to remove the residue/dirt that's impeding the volume while turning the knob.

I miss having a scanner. Pawned my last one 7 years ago, and never bought it back. I hope this helps you!!

Sporatic POT.

HI slotcarman ...

I have already tried your ideas, but thanks for the suggestions
anyway ..... I Goggled my scanner - in hopes to purchase a NEW POT.
I did find Pots for sale, but they were for Other Models and Would NOT
fit/work on mine ......

WELL - PEOPLE ~ Does anyone know where I can get a New Pot
for my BC100 XLT Bearcat Scanner ?

THANKS-TO-ALL, Who have Given of their Time to Help Me.

Sincerely, JCN.
