Small motor that makes a click?

So I am putting together a virtual pinball machine together. Badically a tv and computer in a pinball style cabinet.

One thing I would like but haven't figured out how to do is to simulate even a little the clicking and vibration of the flippers.
I figure there must be a small motor out there somewhere that I could use to do this.
I want it to go off when I press the flipper button and will probably need two one for each flipper.

Now it needs to be fairly quick acting to avoid lag and I can power it from the pc psu or a battery if needed.

The buttons work off of a microswitch so the motor needs to be able to cycle with each press and power down afterwards.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try using a lifting magnet (I hope thats the right expression for it).
Here's a pic:



When you apply the voltage, the solenoid pulls the core in very fast and it makes quite a click if its strong enough. When you break the circuit (i.e. let go of the button) the spring pulls the core out again. Note: the spring is not always visible, it may be placed inside the solenoid. Make sure yours has a spring!!

When using the power supply from the computer, be sure to also use a recovery diode. Basically it's a normal diode, that is connected in parallel to the solenoid, but the "wrong" way round:



+ goes to the top wire, - to the bottom. When you press the button, current flows only through the solenoid. When you release the button, the solenoide produces a very high reverse voltage because of the breakdown of the magnetic field. the diode short circuits the voltage and your other systems will not be affected (or shot) by the high reverse voltage.

you nailed it Tom. However they are commonly refered to as solinoid. This will give the rapid response and the noise and the feel all in one.
