Mine too! Ya know? I'm ready for a new ship! When I saw "Renegades" and those two new ships, I said YESSS! I like that! For those of you not familiar:

Renegades is set a decade after the U.S.S Voyager's return to Earth, a rag-tag crew of renegades and outcasts must covertly work with Admiral Chekov and Tuvok to stop forces threatening the Federation from outside, and within.

Their ship, the Icarus, is one BAD ass ship! I want a model of that!

The Discovery is different too. Not enough is shown to get an idea of how different it is. At first, I thought it was the Discovery class ship, like the U.S.S. Odyssey and the Vindicator:

Discovery Class Starship Blueprints - U.S.S. Odyssey NCC-71832-B - Courtesy of the Star Trek LCARS Blueprint Database @ Cygnus-X1.Net

But no. This is all I can find on Google Images:

I tell ya, not everyone likes this ship. Around the web there are...rumblings.

Doug

Hey! Does the Discovery resemble Ralph McQuarrie’s TMP Enterprise design?

Or is this just a coincidence? Maybe I'm just thinkin' too much...

This ship definitely is different. Not sure how I feel about it, good or bad. Fun any new Trek is coming out though.

Nope! I was right! I noted many others stated the same thing! I was beginning to think I was trek-delusional! LOL!

I understand this design is not set in stone. Hmmm.

It does indeed look like it's an homage to the McQuarryprise.
The design isn't bad, but I'm not thrilled with the dark steel coloring.

I kinda like it. I guess the only thing that sticks with me is that it's basically a triangle and circle shape. I think they should re-work the triangle part a bit.

Circle and Triangle? Good Lord - the IDIC symbol?

Because of the McQuarrie design, wouldn't this put the ship design out parallel to the Enterprise Refit?

Off topic a bit: now that a model of the Icarus from Renegades is done in resin, ya think Moebius might grab this? 1:350 would be worth $100+ to me. And the lighting possibilities! Woo!

Back on topic...I got a feeling The Discovery will be the first of MANY new Trek ships! This is just a win-win all around! Very happy news!

Moebius has the rights to the current official Trek movie (JJVerse) franchise, period.

I wonder who CBS/Paramount will award the new series rights to?
