Atlas Acquisitions

Drawing inspiration from the MFR Accumulations thread, I bring you Atlas Acquisitions. I think this is a better way to share my findings than hijacking other threads or starting multiple new threads. As an added bonus, I figured out how to use Photobucket thanks to some older threads and I can now post nice, big pics instead of thumbnails.

This is my sole addition today: Oxford Cararama Ford Capri.

I always though that 1:43 was a good scale for diecast. I only have a few others in that scale at the moment. I'm saving up for Brickworld this weekend so I've been holding back on new purchases. Stay tuned for more stuff soon!

Both generation Capris are seldom seen in scale. Nice second gen Capri!

Nice! Looking forward to more from you, I love the detail in the Atlas 1/43's (Norev and others family) models, keep hunting, I've scored some great deals lately from them. I hope we don't bid against each other...

No worries, I'm pretty cheap. Haha! These are the only other 1:43 cars I have so far:

This Lamborghini Centenario was a Gamestop pre-order bonus for Forza Horizon 3.

These are a couple of Shell promo cars from the mid 1990's or so.

I wouldn't mind picking up more in this scale. I used to have some of the Road Champions muscle cars and they were decent for the money. Lots of obscure European stuff in this scale.

Most of the ones I've seen are still in the bags. If I'm not mistaken, there were a couple of Indy cars like these too.

Only one noteworthy find today, but it's a good one in my book:

HW Car Culture Trucks series '72 Ford Ranchero. Target had a few of these on the pegs this afternoon. Couldn't pass it up!

Do you buy on line? I could hip you to some great sellers, prices vary greatly, depends on what you like and the amount of detail you think is worth your hard earned dollars! Look at some of my threads down in the 1/43 forum...

I had an old British magazine from the '90s called 'Sports Car & Thoroghbreds', that had a great article on a blind man who restored a 1st gen Capri by himself, as you can imagine, the bodywork and paint were just about perfect, he used his hands to detect any imperfections, his sighted buddy only helped to keep the spray gun at the proper distance for painting, wish I still had it.

Now that guy had talent! Yes, I buy online. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to diecast though. I've seen quite a few nice 1:43 models for under $20, which is my comfort zone in that scale. The Capri was only $11 shipped which I think was quite fair. Please, let me know some online dealers that you trust. I would appreciate that!

For today's finds we have a trio of Hot Wheels that I scooped up at Walmart on my way back from Brickworld:

'70 Chevelle SS Wagon, '58 Ford Thunderbird and Lamborghini Huracan LP62-2 Super Trofeo.

Decided to check out Target on my lunch break today and found a few goodies. Also, my Big Red Camaro was waiting for me when I got home!

It's pretty sweet! The only gripe I have about it is that the white stripes on the spoiler don't line up with the ones on the body. Still very cool though.
