Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Die Cast Forum Restructure Planning Poll #3

This poll is a multi-choice format. You can vote for one or more of any of the listed choices based on your interest level or activity within a section.

The main focus here is on diecast car brands already listed and which ones would have new audiences if they were listed as a single sub forum or section.

Ok, I see now some things that could be moved....very simple.

But just the 3 or 4 obvious forums that hardly ever get any action.

However, all this above is just way to complex and confusing for me to cast any votes.

Hence the "Lummox" handle I suppose.

If you or anyone else has questions, please post them up and we will do our best to clarify a concern or answer a question.

Looking at these two other RC sections may make it more confusing to some, but may serve as a visiual aid for others to see what the end product would look like with different type of sections and sub forum listings.

First is the current rc section and next the off road section within the rc section with sub forums for a visual representation -

Radio Control Vehicles - HobbyTalk

RC Offroad Racing - HobbyTalk

I like what your trying to do here MFR! I subscribe to the K.I.S.S. method

M2 is still producing and gets posts, leave it.

Ertle, are they still making stuff? Move to vintage sub.

Merge JL with subs. Same with GL.

While I'm interested in many of the 'off' brands, Kyosho, IXO, Corgi, Tomica etc... I'm not sure where they should be posted other than 1:43 or whatever scale they are or vintage if they are older. Maybe an 'Oddball/Orphan/Other make' sub in diecast?

All good examples. And thanks for your input as well

M2 does still get a few posts and consistently has visitors (non members) looking at the threads there. There is also room to leave it as a for lack of better word as a first tier brand forum section.

ERTL castings as you also mention are still being made but by TOMY now. So the recent posts can go to TOMY and the older posts to a Vintage (other brands) sub forum still identified as ERTL for searchs and grouping of those threads in one place.

From the four brands you list in your post - Kyosho and Tomica can be looked at as the Hot Wheels and Matchbox of Asian diecast companies. IXO and Corgi would definitly be an other brands or in Corgi's case also a brand y scale sub forum. Nothing says we can list in both, but we will try our best to follow the membership input from these polls.

Tweaking things later will still be an option.

Corgi, Welly and Yat Ming would be good fodder for individual subforums under a Vintage subforum, along with Ertl.

These polls have been up now for 2 days - only to receive 130 views. (Is what it is).
Worse, only about 1 to 6 votes or so on average.

Was wondering what folks thoughts are on that.

I believe that the view count also counts visitors (non members) who open the thread and are not able to vote.

The same thing happened in the photos photos photos poll and I think we now have more members having voting in these polls than voted in that previous poll.

Even at just 130 views these poll threads have received more individual views than 40 to 50% of any of the other threads in HobbyTalk. (Which is a normal occurence in any forum type blog.)

The key number to watch I think is the vote count. Currently in this thread it is 14. I thinkk that says more about anything than the view count does.

How is M2 "vintage" when they're still on the shelves?? Keep the vintage forums as they are. Too many forums, I think, would tend to push people away, I don't see a problem with merging the GL forums into one, but I don't know how much traffic separate JL forums would see.

I dont think M2 is up for being moved based on the current poll trends.

IIRC the question is more to if the vintage section is renamed to other diecast or a new sub forum listing for other brands established. M2 was placed for realignment consideration only because the new post history is very sparse and the views by members and visitors is minimul at sampled times of the day and night.
