Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Die Cast Forum Restructure Planning Poll #2

This poll is a multi-choice format. You can vote for one or more of any of the listed choices based on your interest level or activity within a section.

This poll focuses on sections that are already present in the current diecast sections listing. And making room for new brands with more posting interest than the ones already there. Those would not be deleted. They would still be there, but maybe as a sub forum to a different section.

Move or rather delete Jada entirely.
What few Jada posters can post in the general diecast collecting section.

Moving Jada to Vintage makes no sense to me at least.

The remaining choices either don't apply to me (buy sell) or make no sense or seem like bad ideas.

Except maybe the down hill racer thing would be ok. Though I've never once seen a post about them.

I follow your points.

Regarding Jada you are exactly outlining the purposed choices - just vote for the one that makes the most sense to you.

If you have time and interest can you identify the ones that dont make sense to you? Adding the reasons they dont make sense to you would help as well.

And the ones that seem like a bad ideal and as above the reason.

I will acknowledge that there are not many gravity racing post, but they are there! The idea is to put them all in one place and labeled as a common theme. That is the reason behind creating a new section for them and others. (This is actually my only personal change request that I added to the list. Everything else really are things that other members have posted about in the last 4 to 5 years or more - honest!)

Thanks for taking the time to add your feed back. VS_Adm, KITT and I really do want to make your relationship with HobbyTalk a better experience for you and others, but we do also recognize the need to make it more appealing to those with other similiar, but also slightly differentdiecast interests.

Well Jada and certainly M2 simpley haven't been around long enough to be considered vintage.
Unless there's something I don't know.

But so far no one has voted for these to be "vintage" as of yet...last I checked.

It felt really odd to me to see those two options is all.

Thanks for the additional input. In regards to Jada and M2 I made sure in the poll development that any recommendation or change request be considered as presented and fully included. (I dont agree with all of them either, but they are there for the membership to consider for themselves and vote accordingly.)

As to them being Vintage. I dont think they are Vintage and they dont fit under international either - so by brand is another option.

For some back ground, in looking back at the history of the Vintage section the original intent appears to have been capturing posts on the original first series of MB (Lesney), HW (Redlines) and JL (Topper). This is the actual definition of vintage - first of.

Overtime members brought in other brands first series. And then brands that only had one series and went extinct. Now the trend is to include any brand that no longer produces items or no longer produces under that series name or brand. This broadening of the "vintage" definition is something that has happend in all areas of collecting. Mostly to include things that are not antiques, but still old (late 20th century.)

That's the only "problem" I'd have with that, is to include stuff that isn't antique.
Heck, I don't even like seeing '80s stuff there.

Otherwise, I like what you're saying, appreciate evryone's efforts...at least I'm trying to!

Participation in the discussion and voting is the key to the process - either for or against. This is the first time - I have ever read or seen any forum owner even ask for input, but I havent been around the boards as long as most of you here.

Please Do NOT "delete" the Jada forum. True, it may not see the traffic the other forums do, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And as Dave pointed out, Jada certainly isn't old enough to be considered vintage. Neither is Muscle Machines, which is the brand that started this crazy ride for me, and the brand I will hold onto until the bitter end.

Diecast Auctions definitely needs to be kept as its own forum, but the "swap and sell, wanted to buy or swap forums, I think, tends to confuse and alienate people.
One trades forum where people can put, in the title, their intentions, IE; Hot Wheels wanted, trade or sell, etc. Simple.

Can you elaborate more on the 'confuse and alienate' part - for the buy sell trade sections. I noticed also that the descriptions for those two sections are the same essentially and that may be contributing to part of the confusion you see. Not sure when they were seperated, but I did notice an overlap in listing early on.

There are some icon labels in the reply window for FS WTB FT, etc, but not many people use them or conistently use them. I will make a note to check the rules listing for those sections to see how that is address (suggested.) As well as brand listings
