Kong...father and son!

From the "Legends of Stop Motion" series, here are two big !/6 scale busts of Kong and Son of Kong painted up in classic silver screen black and white!

Nice Job on the painting, Styrene Dude!

I remember watching these movies on Saturday afternoon matinees! I still can't get over how great the stop motion artistry is in the pics!

Again, nice job on the paints and the eyes in particular!

What's next on the bench?

Steve

Thanks Steve!

Currently on the bench are Aurora Phantom of the Opera, Aurora Superman, and MPC Haunted Glo-Head Apeman.

Great likenesses, and your paint work really brings them to life; especially the eyes. Wonderful!!!

That's what I was thinking. 1/6 the size Kong is supposed to be would still be huge, but 1/6 the size of the stop motion puppet would be tiny. They look great whatever the scale is.

On Wikipedia (that unimpeachable source of information ), Merian C. Cooper is quoted as saying that he altered Kong's stature to fit a particular scene, from 18 to 60 feet. So the likelihood is that, whatever size these busts are, they may well be an 'accurate' 1/6 scale. In any event these busts are beautifully done, S.D.!

They are still available from Gillman Productions. Contact Paul Gill via Facebook. They are part of a series of 18 different stop motion characters sculpted by Mick Wood. Mighty Joe Young is also available as well as lots of Harryhausen characters.
