any collectors of Tonka Totes?

hi, I'm new here on the threads and was wondering if anyone here collects Tonka Totes or knows of a website database of variations. I have been collecting them off and on for many years now and have never found any real information on them anywhere. any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

You know it!
Here's mine.

The blue roadster was mine as a kid.

And welcome LDC
I don't think there are many Totes collectors here.
You see a few on ebay and they seem to fetch a pretty good amount lately but have yet to find much info other than searching images of old Tonka catalogs.
That will at least show the basic ones, but would love to know more as well.

Please show us yours!!!

I have a few. When I was a kid I knew someone that had the snot green and orange Beetles. I love Beetles and green is my favorite color. I guess I bugged them enough about playing with it that they gave me the green one. I've gotten a few more in recent years and one even came with the belt clip. I'll try to remember to dig them out sometime soon for a picture.

I've noticed most people don't even know what Tonka Totes are, I have found them a fleamarkets for fifty cents before.

Wow wow WOW!
I see two more I've never heard of that you have.
That blue streamliner type thing, and this killer little Gremlin.

The color combos seem to be endless on these.

Awesome. Thanks for showing!

The Gremlin and Saltflat Racer are very rare. I don't have the Gremlin, but have seen it bring $150 to $300 on eBay and they are usually cracked on the roof pillars. I found the Saltflat Racer in with some other Totes I bought for under $20, they can bring $200 to $250

Unreal.
Good to know. Thanks for the info!

So did this line appear in 1970 only or did it go into '71 at all?

not sure

I think the 1970 Tonka Look Book is the only one to show Tonka Totes, but they may have been sold in 71 too. I also collect the Tonka Gigglers, Tonka Toddlers and Tonka Peek A Boo people. they all have the same wheels as the Tonka Totes but are usually different colors. they are egg shaped animals on wheels, or egg shaped people that have little cars they ride in.

I've seen those. Great collection.
I've often thought the wheels might make for some fun customizing for the Totes.

And on the bottom shelf - what have we here?

The '68 to '72 time period sure makes for some great collecting.
